WT stance on misbehaving children at the Kingdom hall?
by closer2fine indo they still advocate spanking?
any recent quotes from the magazines?.
thanks.
-
Nellie
I think spanking is a matter of community. It is still a common practice in some and frowned upon in others. BTW, I use the word spanking to mean physical discipline - not physical abuse.
I am the mother of four. All of them have been spanked. It is not a common occurence in our house - but the threat is real and they know it. The fear of it is more controlling than the reality. It's a good fear.

Did you as a woman buy into and follow the subjection crap?
by restrangled inmy grandmother didn't, my mother didn't and neither did i. so how does this continue in this advanced day and age?.
why would any woman put up with it?.
i saw the results of women getting beat attending the hall.

Nellie
I never thought of it as "subjection crap" - but probably because I didn't have a husband who tried to lord over me.
I always tried (and still do try) to be respectful and I defer to him the final decision on some decisions that I think should be his - after putting in my two cents (of course). But we've never had a circumstance where he tried to flex "Me Tarzan - You Jane." He has always shown me (and my opinion) respect and while I might not always agree with everything he chooses, I believed (and still believe) he has the right to make those choices.
At the end of the day, as long as the decisions being made aren't to the detriment of the family, then their free will. I married a man, not a robot - I don't expect he feels any differently.

Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by Tigerman inis homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?
my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.
his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

YES! It's a BIG JW thing! There won't be a need for doctors in the new system after all

I was running a normal errand this morning - drove to the post office to mail a package. Urgh! My car wouldn't start back up! Fortunately I had one of those portable jump-batteries in the trunk. As I was hooking it up (my first time using it - I was sooo proud of myself) a car pulled up alongside me. I couldn't believe it - out of the thousands of brothers we know, here was one of the few I can honestly say my husband detests!!! He made a few racial comments to him years ago - I think he called him "Boy." For those of you who don't know - never call a black man "boy". It's one of the seven deadly sins!
Anyway, he offers to help. But the car wouldn't turn over. So he's looking for something to say - obviously he doesn't know we're gone (though not DFd or DAd) and starts off with "what did you think when you looked over a saw a brother pulling up?" I guess I was supposed to say something like "the angels sent you," huh? I looked at him and said "surprise!" Then he starts saying how he would've helped me no matter who I was. (Why he felt it necessary to say this I don't know.) Then he goes on to tell me how one day his car was stuck and this car pulls up with "four huge black men in it" and how they helped him and were "as gracious as any brothers would've been." Again, I'm asking myself "why are you saying this to me???"
Anyway, he offers to drive me home and I'm thinking - I've got Santa on my front door! That would be a hoot! But I decide to wait for AAA to help! He tells me to take his cell phone number and call him if I need a lift. What a gem! If Only He Knew!

I think JWD is like medicine to me - when I need it, I use it. When everything's okie dokie - I don't think about it as much (It's kinda like that bottle of aspirin in the cabinet - I may not use it everyday - but I make sure it's there just in case.)
