  i'm not now, nor have i ever been a jw.

  i do have and interest in the jws though.

  for the past many months i have been reading this board and it's predicessor and when membership was opened i jumped right in.

  Obama's presidency hasn't suddenly made African-Americans WANT to do better. What it has done, however, is given them HOPE that they CAN do better. The desire has always been there, the ability to make that desire a reality has historically been denied.

  after sending my disfellowshipped sister-in-law a valentine's card last week, she sent me an email.

  imagine my surprise!

  after 15 years of being disfellowshipped, she told me that she reinstated one month ago.

  Nathan - Thanks for the clarification. For my edification, how would someone from DC be listed under their avatar?

  IF this cartoon was made to satire the Connecticut case and not President Obama, it would make sense that the context of the cartoon would include a family scene - maybe with the chimp raising havoc in the livingroom - and the caption could have read something like "That's one way to cut our expenses" or "One less egg to fry" - something that referenced the chimp as a family pet (which was their situation). INSTEAD, the reference was to the stimulus package. How do you make the leap from their situation to the stimulus package???

  I can understand. Fortunately for us, we're not close to the family we have left in and we live in a different state. So basically, what they don't know won't hurt us. They really couldn't talk to us any LESS anyway. They're family in name only.
