Ok - true story!
My friend runs a diner/restaurant in a small rural town in Georgia (population 400). One of the waitresses has a 15-year old Downs Syndrome son who she occassionally leaves home alone while she works.
She gets a phone call from him, "Mom, there's a troll in the yard." After assuring him that there is no such thing as a troll and having a small debate about it, she hangs up and tries to go back to work. Worried now that he might be having some sort of breakdown, she tells her boss about the incident and gets permission to go home and check on him. She calls him back while she's driving home, and he says, "Don't worry, Mom, everything's okay. I trapped the troll."
Trapped the troll! Ok, now she's really worried. What the heck is going on? When she gets home, she checks the front yard and then runs around back to check there too. She sees nothing...So she goes inside.
She finds her son - excited - he points to the closet door (that has a chair wedged up under the doorknob) and says, "See Mom, I trapped the troll - it's in the closet!" Banging noises are coming out of the closet and she's afraid to open the door, but she must. As soon as the door is opened, out runs ..... a midget (little person) - cursing and screaming. It turns out he was a Census worker!
The boy opened the door, picked him up and threw him in the closet! "You see Mom, there are trolls!" ROFLMAO!!!
P.S. - No charges were filed against the boy or his mom. I told my friend she needs to get one of those little troll dolls and make it part of the restaurant decor!

How long will I be an exJW vs a fomer JW?
by AllTimeJeff indrew sagan in a recent post (he recently graduated college) said this, something that i agree with and frankly, think about often.
to those of you who feel that you need to "help others" in the watchtower i give you this word of caution.
be careful, because that may simply be an excuse you are using to remain stuck in the past.

Jeff - while I can appreciate your feelings that your posts have become somewhat repetitive, you must take into consideration that for anyone new to the site, they're lifelines to their future. I remember well that within a few days of finding the site, I came across a comment referring to the UN scandal. I had never heard of the UN scandal and asked about it. Imagine my surprise! Words of wisdom are never old! No matter how often they're repeated...now I'm off to find LadyLee's posting. Thanks for the direction ... again!

Dub....dubs ?
by upnorth ini've seen that----> (dubs or dub) used quite a few times but haven't connected it to anything.. could someone 'splain it to me.
.
thanks, it's early spring time uphere and my brain is not completely thawed.

It's how you pronounce the letter "W" - Dub
So J Dub is equal to JW or shortened to just Dub.
You'll also see borg - used in place of org (organization) and a nod to the Borg from Star Trek and how singleminded they were (we won't mention the fact that they were evil as well).
You'll see "witless" instead of "witness" and "Jehoba" (and other variations) - I don't think I need to explain those!

Which is your favourite single malt Scotch Whisky, and why?
by lifelong humanist inas a true scot, i'm deeply passionate about most things scottish, any possibly one of our small nation's most successful export is my main favourite - our single malt whisky heritage.. i'm writing this while savouring a 12 year old highland park - distilled in the orkney islands, the most northerly distillery in scotland.
it is one of my favourites - it was my late father's favourite tipple.
yet, only 500m from my house is scotlands oldest legal whisky distillery - glenturret, in crieff.

A Self Pleasing & Amusing Story
by Cthulhu ini've not been to a meeting in quite some time, but occassionally i talk to this witness couple in the area and ask if i have missed anything good lately.
on a recent visit with them i was told this story.. for some months now a semi retarded fellow has been attending the meetings at the hell, and as many of us know, a couple of weeks ago at the constipated bible study the subject was masturbation.
this new meeting attender, who often incorporates space travel, ufo's, and star trek into his comments was present, but was exceptionally wired.

Why Can't We Accept The Jehovah's Witness Religion For Its Good & Bad?
by minimus ini know many catholics, protestants and jews who practice their religion and even if they don't believe or accept everything that is stated, they still are content to be members of their faith.
basically, many people don't accept their churches 100% but still happily remain.. exjw's on the other hand view the witness religion as totally horrible.
we are not like other religions.

Because the WBTS sets themselves up as a "higher standard" than any other. They say they have the Truth. They say they are god's representation of earthly government. They say that ONLY through membership with their organization can you have a relationship with Jehovah. They say that it is only through association with them that anyone has the hope of everlasting life! Because they LIE!

by wantstoleave ini just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on the board.
i haven't been here that long but from the time i've spent here, i feel very comfortable.
i've been on boards before (witness ones) where everyone is so opinionated, heartless and holier than thou....but this one is so different.
