  does anybody know the jw reasoning why using mind-altering depression and schizophrenia medication are okay but marijuana is not?

  okay i could see saying not to use marijuana because it is currently illegal in the us but what if it were legal?

  there are lots of health benefits for marijuana.

  Tal - I've been suffering with fibromyalgia since 1989 and never and I mean NEVER thought about the medicinal use of MJ ...... I may have to give this some consideration.... legalities aside, I never thought of it.

  on jwtalk.net, the jw apologists are all over the conti case, about how "dumb" the jury was, how it is certain to be overturned on appeal, how jehovah will vindicate his name, blah blah blah.. meanwhile, on another thread about the sandusky verdict, you will find these comments:.

  so sad that it took all this time and ruined those young boys lives.

  but what about the school officials, didn't they have a responsibility to report this to the authorities??.

  ok so let's play what if.

  what if we are wrong in saying that the wts and jws are not handling sexual abuse cases properly?.

  people won't believe us.

  First of all Lady Lee - my sympathies for your loss and heartache!

  I can't help but think that some of the saddest situations I've seen are those people who leave the organization because they feel they can't live "up to the standards" and then spend the rest of their lives feeling guilty about it.

  You're right, of course. Asking those questions and being brave enough to look for the answers can be the beginning of a new life. Unfortunately, one of the sad realities about brain-washing is that no one can really convince you or persuade you - until you're ready to hear it. I remember many times my brother (in particular) tried telling me they were a cult and I just wasn't ready to hear it. Now he says "I told you so" and I laugh and say well, you were right!

  And let's not forget that it takes a lot of humility and courage to accept that you were wrong and do something about it.

  see....this is the downside to leaving the forum for a while - you know you've missed out on great conversations and it takes f o r e v e r to find older threads.. so....help a-sista out....what's the 411 on the mass exodus from brooklyn, the sale of the buildings, the $$$$ made, etc.

  besides the obvious need to meet their legal payout needs (suppress all chuckles), has anyone followed the money trail?

  in flyinghighnow's wildflower page, she asked how an image could be added to another photo, and i thought to reply in a new thread.. i have noticed there are plenty of experienced photoshop users on this board who would likely have many tips to share with other users.. feel free to ask questions, or provide answers here.

  my experience is limited, but i will help where i can, and i hope to learn from others.. there are many capable programs other than photoshop, so feel free to post about any of them you are familiar with.. there is often an easier way to do something, so any shortcuts are welcome!.

  I never learned to use Photoshop - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Microsoft PhotoDraw that's obsolete now (and also not as powerful) - As much as I want to know how to use it, I'm always overwhelmed by the steps it takes to do anything. Any suggestions for a less powerful program that more user-friendly?

  Betrayal

  so far when i have seen the word 'betrayal' or 'betrayed' on these boards, it's in reference to how we feel betrayed by the watchtower society, family, or individuals within the organization.

  we all understand this feeling well.

  i can relate to many of the sentiments expressed.. but the other night with my therapist, towards the very end of the session, the word 'betrayal' came up in reference to myself.. the therapist noted that i seemed to be 'holding back' with her.

  I can relate to your fears about your wife.....once upon a time I was that wife - watching my husband drift/pull away and worried that I too would be left behind. The best piece of advice I can give you on this subject is to go out of your way to keep her secure in your love and relationship. My husband flat out told me once when I shared my fears that I was mistaken if he thought the only thing that kept him home was the organization. His love for me had absolutely nothing to do with THEM and everything to do with ME! Today, we've both left THEM behind and our love is as strong as can be.
