DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MYELODYSPLASTIC SYNDROME?
by Mary ini just got some awful news.
my jw brother in law has been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome.
needless to say, we are all extremely upset as it is a potentially life-threatening illness that can turn into leukemia.

Don't be afraid of disfellowshipping. It sure is weird and shocking but if you spend more time away from the JW junk by the time it happens you'll have built a safety network around yourself so you'll be able to recover quickly. (And do that; be a good friend with non-witnesses, you're going to need them.)
In any case, I don't know what you're thinking putting your kids in the way of that bullet anyway. Your resposibility is to them and their malleable little minds. You should be protecting them, not yourself.

It It's Taken Away, Who Are You?
by AllTimeJeff inbaron davis plays basketball for the la clippers in the nba.
in an article on him in a recent sports illustrated, davis recalled something his grandma told him "if i take that ball away, who are you?
that stuck with me.

Good topic. If I were to try to define the meaning of my new life, it's along the lines of love. The love in my life is absolutely extraordinary, magnificent even. If that was taken away I don't know how I'd replace it. But anyway... yes I still think that it's wise to diversify and have several major passions. In the case of the massive sportstar, or you could extend that to the ageing rockstar or movie goddess; as far as they're concerned they've doing the biggest thing they'll ever do in their lives. It's quite sad that it fails them. Reminds me of returned astronauts; once they've walked on the moon, what's the point living any more? That's extremely sad.
A good life is made of many beautiful moments; try to generate as many of them as you can. Hitting a home run out of the park would be a big one, but it's only one.

WOOHOOOOOOO!!! I give a gigantic thumbs-up to anybody starting a degree! Mines about a third done now, and now I know that I want to try secondary teaching. It will be a few more years yet, but I think that's the job I'll retire with. I think I'll be exhausted but very proud to teach.

New JW hobby when going to the KH
by Iwonder17 inso now that i am mentally out ( but still chained for family reasons ) i need to find some hobbies to do while at the meetings.. i would like to do some things that will disrupt the meeting, but without getting caught.
for example, i would love to screw with the sound system while people are commenting ( particularly the elders ).
any ideas?.

I once discovered that when I pressed the 'mute' button on my mobile it would cause this screaming feedback buzz through the KH speakers (the irony...)

Wasn't allowed to wear an ankle chain; it meant that you were a prostitute (the same reasoning said that if a man had one earring he was gay). I secretly bought one at the markets once, and wore it only when hanging out with my best friend. She was disfellowshipped when we were fifteen, kicked out on the street. I found her last year, and it was the best day of the year.

Okay, but they'll only read the first and last sentence and file it. It gets filed permanently, even until long after you're dead, they have to. I suggest instead that you write on an old pizza box that had anchovies in it (keep that smell in the kingdom hall permanently, even after you're dead):
"You're dumped. Don't call me.
Me.
PS you're going to grow old and die."
