JW Women
by Quester55 inwhy are there so many old women in jw world who are so down on men?
my divorce will be finalized next month, it hurt me, but it was and is an unfortunate circumstance of life.
but among the jw women it was assumed that i was happy my marriage had ended so now i would have more time for meetings and field service.

Yeah hang in there until you can achieve that total financial independence you've got in a few months. It will be worth it to disappear from their shallow little lives knowing that you're going to have a great life, and that they'll no longer have any control over how you live it.

playing along with the disfellowshipped game
by milligal inmy son has come to stay with me for the summer, and this morning i got a phone call which showed on the caller id as my son's grandparents (my jw ex's parents who are also jw).
i assumed it was my ex calling from their house and answered handing the phone to my son.
that's when i heard his grandma's voice on the phone.

Hi and welcome. I'm dfd and still working out the rules, they're quite complex. I've taken a lot Garybus' advice, and stopped accepting these silly rules. My parents still talk to me, and when they 'let me contact them' I just get on with cheerful conversation as best I can, ignoring the big elephant in the room. My siblings will never talk to me again, but every year or so I'm visiting non-witness friends in my old hometown and I'll get my husband to sms them to ask them if they want to meet. They never do, but I do it because it reminds them that I'm still around and thinking of them. As my husband was never a witness, and my grandparents aren't, the publicity is quite a big deal for them. There's nothing more important to my crazy family than How They Look. When non-witnesses see how they treat me, they realise they look like lunatics.

For not wanting religion you sure discuss it a lot..Are you still on JWD?
by Quirky1 inthis is what my spouse said after i mentioned issues i have seen on here...the bs being combined, the bethelites being reassigned, the possible termination of co's, etc... she said if that i didn't want anything to do with religion that i shouldn't even be on this site looking into issues such as these.
it has made me to wonder if she isn't right.
am i just trying to reason with myself or am i seeking to avenge myself against the wbts?

Yeah she has a point. I couldn't care less about doctrine and what the organisation is up to these days. I stay here because I need a place to vent about my JW family.

Do the JW's really and truly believe that the end is near?
by TooBad TooSad inif the jw's really believe what the witchtower babble and trick society says about.
the end being so close, do their actions betray what they preach?
if you knew that your house.

I very rarely believed it myself, I just couldn't think about it that way. The thought was never allowed to fully form in my head before being discarded. I imagine that happens to most, like JWFacts said; I've heard many say that even if it wasn't true, it was still the best way to live their life. The problem with that argument is that it's the only way they'll ever try. It's hard to feel sorry for them if they don't even have the guts to think a scary thought through.
No that's not true; I do feel sorry for them. But they're adults.

Gone full circle...time to say bye
by digderidoo ini feel at the moment to keep posting on this site is doing me no good.
i used to post here many years ago and came across many things jw related that made me feel angry towards the way i was brought up.
in particular the 607 issue and the generation change.

Elders supposed contact DF&DA once every year???!!!???
by Quotes ini was speaking to my mom on the phone yesterday, and despite my trying to avoid it, we got to talking about wacky jw topics -- again.
actually, it was nearly unavoidable, since she had just returned from her summer convention.
aside: nice way to celebrate your wedding anniversary, mom & dad; at an assembly!

It's been three years for me, and no, they've never made contact. I've moved a lot though. And I'd prefer they didn't, I find them quite depressing and boring.
Quotes I'm not sure, but I think it's you I have to thank for my new intellectual freedom, I'll tell you a story and you can check: late 2005 I had been disfellowshipped and was driving to the meeting for my thrice-weekly ritual humiliation, when I heard that there would be a story about a guy who had a watchtower quotes site, had faced legal proceedings and was being forced to destroy it. (This is in Australia). If it was you, firstly kudos for what you did; thanks. I'm sorry it had to be taken down and that you had to go through all that, it must have been hell. Secondly, the interviewer had some kind of personal problem with you and I couldn't pin down what it was, but to be honest I don't think he was especially fair with you. But anyway, I listened sitting in the car in the car park and it made me so angry, and by the end of the story I was half an hour late for the meeting, and knew I'd never walk into a hall again. So; thanks for the liberation!
