What I could never figure out, is I was always being told the resurrected person would not have the same body so they wouldn't look like the same person. Ok that makes no sense at all if God is all powerful. There are identical twins in the world, so why not a resurrected person who looks just the same as before?

Resurrection without a soul that survives death.
by Pronger1 inone thing (among many) that always bothered me about jw teachings is what happens to the soul when we die.
sure god could be capable of creating a body and implanting it with all of our life experiences an memories.
but how would not be a just a clone instead of being actually us?

Two circuits in Ohio dissolved!
by kneehighmiah inannounced that two ohio circuits are to be dissolved including 5 congregations.
congregations in the dissolved circuits will be assigned to two existing circuits.
the excuse the letter offered is that people are moving, or that people are retiring and leaving the area.

Do you have something to prove?
by freeflyingfaerie insometimes i have to recheck my motives for doing things.. sometimes i do things for the pure joy of it...dance, yoga, nature walk, listen to music, read something interesting, etc.
but, sometimes when i am engaged in something, like college studies(which i do for the end result and also enrichment), i get flashes of my past that creep in that remind me of a negative message, and it makes me wonder if one of my motives is to also prove something about my self.
at times i recall my ex-husband calling me 'stupid' or 'dumb'.

It's better to put on a brave face for your witness relatives, "fake it till you make it", so they don't claim Satan is making your life miserable.
I know what you mean about something to prove. I think everyone does it.

Were People Surprised When You Left The Witnesses?
by minimus inmine was a gradual going away.
but once it dawned on them, i think people were shocked that i left the religion i espoused from youth.. were people "in the truth" and "in the world" surprised by your departure?.

Yeah, people were pretty shocked. I was goody two shoes to the max, never missed a meeting, although my field service hours were never high. I just went to a Christmas office party and never went back to the JWs, after having all that fun I had had enough of the guilt & living in misery.
My coworkers were even more shocked as I was so quiet, shy & strict JW, but they liked seeing me have fun.

by Goldiver inhello all, it is nice to have a forum for former jw's and see i wasn't the only one out there having serious doubts.
my parents got into it when i was about 4 years old.
my family was part of the granville ny congregation.. my dad in time became an elder.

JWN Silver Linings....
by DATA-DOG ini am just sitting at home, thinking about how crazy i am.
i realized that i am crazy and probably need meds, but so is everyone else and i don't give a shit.
are you dancing your dance, or their dance?

If you think about what makes a person "crazy", is just brain chemistry that is off. Well, even healthy people may have changes in brain chemistry from time to time.
So rant on, I enjoyed reading it!

How Long Have You Been Viewing Thiis Site? Does It Serve Its Purpose For You?
by minimus ini've been here forever.... this site still gives us some of the most up to date info about jws .
it keeps evolving.
sometimes it is the place to be and i think that's especially true for newbies.

8 years, but I have had long spans as long as a year, when I didn't post or come here, sometimes I just like coming on here when I feel lonesome, and no one else but ex JWs understand parts of my past so it's a comfort
I tried another posting forum and I didn't like it so I came back to this one even though the JW life is SO long ago.
I like seeing the same posters, and some of you have an awesome sense of humor that at times just really makes me laugh until I cry which is great.

What Drew You To The Witnesses?
by minimus ini did believe for the first 30 years of my life that they had been picked by jehovah god to dispense the truth as best as imperfect humans could.
then, everything became questionable.
i had read anti jw books in the past but franz's books really got to me but not immediately.

I was 12 and my 17 year old sister started taking me to meetings. I had mentally ill parents who neglected me, and since I suffered from severe depression as a child and knew nothing about the Bible-- I was the perfect convert. Paradise on earth where everyone was "family" and where I didn't feel bad/depressed all the time sounded great & gave me hope. The down side was the SEVERE guilt over never being a good enough JW or doing enough etc etc.
I suppose being a JW kept me from becoming a drug addict or sexually wild during my teenage years since my parents pretty much ignored me.

Christmas is WRONG!
by thesaint inyou all should be ashamed of your egotistical selves.
how can you leave god's organization to celebrate the work of satan the devil?
it just goes to show you how jehovah's christian witnesses are correct about how persons will leave the truth for their own selfish desires.. first off, christmas is a pagan holiday and it proves no spirit with the almighty jehovah and his son, the christ.

I wonder if they ever eat round cakes? Round cakes are pagan too as I recall. Everything is Pagan, and nobody cares except the Jdumbs.
