shunning within the family.
by bigmac ini'm giving 3 examples of this practice--that i know of personally.. .
my first wife--born in--divorced me over 30 years ago.
she totally shuns our son--now 38--d/f'd and now happily married and enjoying life to the max.. my pioneer partner--from the mid 60's-----he totally shuns his daughter---to the point of even ignoring her in the street.. a close friend of mine--in the 60's and 70's-----i was best man at his wedding.

I along with my non JW sister are being shunned by my JW sister & non JW brother who are best buddies. They are 56 & 62, and I keep wondering if something happens to either one of them-- get cancer or whatever, that I will probably never hear about it or hear from them again. They return any mail I send, even if I mark clearly on the outside envelope that it has to do with important family matters such as my step mother's funeral arrangements. I don't get it-- I don't get why they are also shunning my non JW sister who was never involved in the Jdumb religion

Would you go to church?
by Coded Logic ini have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.
even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.
just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

Everyone should try a couple of church services just for the experience. I enjoy Unity Church, used to go quite regularly, they accept all religions & beliefs & lifestyles. I've been to more dogmatic churches and did not enjoy the experience, too uncomfortable & judgemental. I went to a Presbyterian Church and was bored by all the boring repetitive chants every week-- they repeated scripted information same thing every week.

Please help....in a dilemma..
by crazyhorse inplease help with this: when i was in college, there was a lot of talk about university and how all who pursue that are wasting their time and all that.
even before going to uni, there was a lot of pressurr on me concerning my decision.
during that time, two elders sat with me for appointment as ms and asked me if i have freedom of speech in the org since i'm going to uni and i said no.

I wish you much luck-- you need to become financially independent as soon as possible. Will they kick you out if you quit going to meetings etc?

An important message from a PRACTICING Jehovah's witness
by Sparks inhi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.

My response is this, JWs don't treat returning ones like the progical son in the Bible. I was reinstated many years ago and treated like I had leprosy, treated like bad association or whatever, and that's when I knew it wasn't a place that I wanted to be and that they did not have the so called Truth.

Killing of millions of babies & children in worldly families by God but if you die before Armageddon you get resurrected
spanking babies for cooing at meetings
discouraging activities such as coloring during the meeting to keep kids quiet
being taught that it's better to associate with only JWs even if they are of questionable character
turning in an hourly preaching report
Im sure I have many more, that's just off the top of my head

Stormcrow-- so sorry that happened to you! And with no one to talk to about it, it's terrible.
My non JW brother died at 22 years of age in his sleep when I was in high school. One week later I started crying at school (driver's ed class had shown a movie and showed bodies covered in sheets with toe tags & it set me off), and one of my JW so called friends said very sarcastically, "It's been a whole week, why are you crying?" I couldn't believe the coldness in my JW so called friends just because my brother was not a Jdumb.
