  I feel like a leper

  i certainly have had my share of jw stupidity for the day ... and of my family's stupidity today.

  two things happened ... both completely unrelated.

  as a little background, i "faded" from the witnesses almost five years ago.

  I can certainly empathize with you. I was disfellowshipped, reinstated, and then faded. My JW sister at first wouldn't talk to me after I faded but after our mom died a couple years later, she started just treating me like a normal relationship. However, the few times I have run into JW's that know me treat me like I'm disfellowshipped--pretend like they don't see me, or purposefully don't acknowledge my existence.

  About 6 years ago, my best friend (JW) from my teenage years called me up and asked me out to lunch. Basically it was one of those "come back before Jehovah destroys you at Armageddon" talks. I do remember her saying that other people tried to dissuade her from seeing me. I have not heard from her since, and no one from the Hall has ever tried to contact me after I faded--not even the elders.

  and the girl i took to prom well im still having some feelings for her and we seem to be getting along good.

  id like to hang out with her because shes fun, but she has a bf now.

  As far as your birthday, just say thanks a lot. I used to say that even when I was an active JW. It's just being polite.

  Good luck with the girl you like. I have a teenage son, and he is constantly falling in love with different girls at school. Just remember that everyone gets their heart broken a few times in their life. Sad but true.

  Keep the responses coming--I LOVE IT!!!

  I have decided to design my own 'Tract's to discourage would-be JW's. One of my 'Tract's is going to have a list of all these really stupid things you can get in trouble for being a Witness. (Don't know if people will believe it, maybe I should call Ripley's Believe It Or Not?)

  Seriously I am compiling information because eventually I am determined to become involved with helping to keep people out of Cults. I really am starting to feel like this will eventually be my agenda or goal, because I have always wanted to do something worthwhile that helps other people. Wish me luck.

  Do world events preoccupy you?

  when you read the news on the net or tv or in the news paper, do you get worried about war, oil prices, ozone depletion, species dying, and the list could go on and on, or are you just numb about it?

  i found these 2 forums, and they really think that the end is close, and they aren't jw's !!!!

  I want to add one more thing. One reason I hate watching the news, is that the reporters adore bad news--you can see the excitement in their eyes when they talk about death and destruction. Somehow reporting good things that happen does not get as much attention for the viewers.

  Sometimes world events upset me, and other times I feel a little philosophical/positive about mankind; like the way some endangered species have come back, county garbage trucks pick up recycleables, and the way medicine & science have progressed even over the last 10 years.

  Hope that doesn't sound too naive.

  Thank you and same to you! I was a very bad girl while I was out at lunch today, seeing as today is my birthday and Sunday is Mother's Day, I bought myself a box of Sees dark chocolates. Oh I am really bad. And when the lady asked me if I wanted a ribbon on it, I chuckled out loud and said SURE! even though it's for me. HeeHeeHee

  What did they all do on "worldly holidays" when you were home alone?

  i always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.

  what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.

  but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??

  I remember one Thanksgiving night being at my friends' house for dinner before their Bookstudy. My friend's mom cooked a turkey dinner and played "Winter Wonderland" on the piano. I remember thinking to myself--and I could be with my worldly relatives right now doing the same thing.

  What movies make you think of the Borg?...

  i was watching a great sci-fi movie the other day (chronicles of riddick) and there was a phrase in the movie that jumped out at me.

  a soldier was being promoted and he said the phrase "obedience without question, loyalty till underverse comes".

  i thought "wow, just replace underverse with armageddon and that sound just like the witnesses".
