This is an interesting thread, really makes one stop and think. I really think the Borg is going to keep decreasing in numbers as other countries become more involved in the Internet.

The New and Hidden Class Consciousness of Jehovah's Witnesses
by truthseeker inclass consciousness is defined as identification with other members of ones own class and awareness of its relationship with other classes.
a remarkable change has happened in the last ten years among jehovah's witnesses, and this is largely due to the way we communicate.. .
the internet has brought about huge social changes in the way we think, do business and research, and how we spend our free time.. .

my non-jw father is going to be 87 years old in a few months.
in the event of him passing away, i'm worried my jw sister will take over the funeral arrangements with a jw talk and all that.

Thanks for all the responses! He purchased a burial plot years ago, so I think I will talk to him this weekend. Have a great 4th of July!

I need some feedback on a delicate matter. My non-JW father is going to be 87 years old in a few months. In the event of him passing away, I'm worried my JW sister will take over the funeral arrangements with a JW talk and all that. The rest of my family--I have 2 other siblings--have never been JWs.
Should I ask my Dad if he wants a Methodist funeral like he had for my mother?

I now know what it feels like.
by Es inhey all i used to read posts where people have found out they have lost loved ones and were never told about it nor the funeral.
last week my mum called me up and said "by the way sister such and such passed away last week the memorial was yesterday"!!!!
i used to be close to this sister and for those from australia might even had known her or heard of her sister isabelle sewell married to ted sewell, they have been living in bethel for over 10 years now.

One of the reasons I absolutely loathed going out in 'service', so scared someone was going to ask me a question that I couldn't explain. My usual sermon was Rev. 21:4 about paradise, beyond that I pretty much sucked at preaching the good news of the Kingdumb.

Chemo begins today
by outnfree inso, i've been sitting at the computer all night long, not really panicked, but definitely disturbed at the thought of what the months to come will entail.. the port-a-cath was "installed" (surgically) on monday, and that was tough.
somehow the lumpectomy last month and even finding out that there was lymph node involvement was okay.
scary, but okay.

In my city we are able to purchase fireworks from stands, apparently many cities don't have that luxury. For some reason going to the firework stand is more fun to me than lighting them, kind of like going to one of those expensive huge candy shops that have everything.

Actually I think the KH I spent the most time at (my first hall) had mostly good-hearted men who were nice people, believe it or not. As much as I hate the BS society, I honestly had good feelings toward a lot of families in my KH. Of course that is from the viewpoint before I was DF'd/reinstated. Once I tried to start coming back--I could feel the fakeness in their attitude toward me and it was never the same. They really looked down their noses at me after I fell out of good graces.

"I would be in a bi-racial marriage with 3 bi-racial children and weigh 300 lbs. "
Excuse me, but is anyone else out there offended at this? I have 2 very beautiful bi-racial kids and it has nothing to do with whether or not I was a JW.
You sound like a bigoted fool.
