first of all.....i ain't bashin gays here......just have a question.. this morning i read in the paper that the united church of christ has unanimously approved of same sex marriage.
this now is the largest protestant sect who has approved of gay marriages.. my question is.......how does religion justify a way of life the bible condems as sinful?
what is their scriptural argument to justify this action as proper?.
The problem I have with this subject is the fact that preachers don't spend much time ostracizing/downgrading people who are in a 'sinful' heterosexual relationship. But they do spend a lot of time damning gays to hell.
I had an ex-boyfriend that I went to church with every Sunday, and then afterwards we would 'get busy'; he refused to marry me or make any committment to me and yet every chance he could he was damning gays to hell for immorality--to me he was one huge HYPOCRITE!
in the aftermath of yesterday's london tragedy, the radio stations were rife with those calling in and talking about some religious fanatics on the other side of the world.
the radio commentator himself talked about how barber shops in baghdad were being bombed and barbers were having their lives threatened (or taken) because of one religion's decrees that hair should not be cut.
the commentary kept asking how do we negotiate with people like this?.
Very sad that most wars and murders are done in the name of religion and/or religious beliefs.

Well this is what's really sad--slave away for the Borg instead of going to college; that way when you are older and have a family to support, you can spend every waking moment thinking of ways to get by/pay bills/get a higher paying job. Yeah that's the best way to spend your life--worrying about not making too much money so that you can worry about not having enough money! Idiots!

i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.
the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.

i've had good and bad days since stumbing onto jwd... and i've learned more in my short time here than in the last 20 years as an "active" and true to the bone...dub.... but today (tonight) i'm really sad... the tone of almost every thread i read has gotten "ugly".... i love "spirited" discussion, but this is different.
it feels like forum anarchy.. is there no yielding anymore...?.
maybe it was just too much happened today... or solar flares or something... i don't know...don't care.... maybe my new found "love" for my country (not the blind patriotic crap) and life coupled with the obvious animosity toward this love by some...well just bums me out.
UD--I always enjoy your posts, sorry you feel down but tomorrow is another day! I love my country also, no president is perfect but living in the USA is where I'm proud to be!
I stay away from certain topics and sometimes certain posters. If I know something or someone is eventually going to piss me off then I stay off those threads. I had a couple threads that upset me because of the way people responded to me--so I abandoned the threads for my own peace of mind.
