Love it! My 16 year old son loves going to his high school dances. I'm so glad I didn't raise my kids as JWs so they could be normal and have fun.

Do you not see, Do you not hear, Are you asleep?
by jw ino timothy, guard what is laid up in trust with you, turning away from the empty speeches that violate what is holy and from the contradictions of the falsely called knowledge.
21 for making a show of such [knowledge] some have deviated from the faith.

When former Witnesses do this, it kind of freaks me out.
by free2beme inokay, this is going to step on someones toes, i just know it.. when i stopped going to the meetings, i was talking a person at the time in the 1990's who had been out for a long time.
i thought it was interesting when he mentioned that he still went to meetings and worshipped jehovah, just not with the watchtower.
so i was wondering what he meant, and one weekend while in california with him and a group function for my employer at the time, he invited me to go a meeting.

REPOST: For mothers who have lost a child
by Lady Lee inon mother's day we often forget those who are mother's but never had the chance to hold their child.
some because they chose to give their child up for adoption.
others because of miscarriage or stillbirth.

I often think about my mother's heartache when my brother passed away at age 22 years old, he was very healthy and just never woke up one day and they never found out what was wrong. I was 16 at the time.
I have 3 beautiful children, and can't imagine life without them. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a child and I'm getting a lump in my throat as I write this.

Welcome eyesopened--hope you find the support you need here.
Although my parents are not JWs, I was one throughout my teenage years; this meant I was isolated from others and did not make lifetime friendships--all my acquaintenances were JWs. It was very very difficult at first to start a new life away from them, but I'm so much happier now and at peace. I didn't do research until after being away from it for many years, and it was quite a shock to my system to learn that everything they had taught me and my sister was not Biblical but a cult and a bunch of lies.
The best thing to do is to build yourself a new support network of friends through work and hobbies. Eventually you might even feel comfortable trying out a new non-denonminational church.
Best of luck to you!

I love taking walks by the Sacramento Capitol Park. They have an AWESOME rose garden and they are all in bloom. Hundreds of different colored bushes, it's just beautiful!
And my grandson who is 2 makes me crack up. He was at my house last night and when he knows everyone is watching him--he falls on his face on the ground--he's such a ham! He also was pointing to my purse saying "whats een there? canny?" He's just adorable.

Oh man Blondie--you brought back memories of reading Watchtower articles, seeing all those little words they use. They also used to always use the term "thinking persons".
Evidently 'thinking persons' are now leaving the society in droves.

I think that I am more honorable and honest than a lot of female co-workers who are such terrible back-stabbing gossipers that a person can't trust.
Sometimes I wonder if that's due to my JW background?

I only did it to salve my conscience so I wouldn't die at the big A. I didn't care to spend a lot of time with our pioneers because they were judgemental and nosy and pretty much wacko. One large family had 5 adult kids in which 4 lived at home and 1 was at Bethel; they all shared one car and lived at home doing janitorial work and pioneering--they were nuts! They were all adult virgins who were against getting married and having kids. It was funny though that they were the first ones to volunteer to help at bridal showers, baby showers and weddings--maybe they were secretly jealous?
Sorry I got off the topic a little.
