you know, i knew a lot of bethelites and every one of them loved their booze.
as an elder, i would entertain alot of the cos, dos and bethelites and their wives.
it was not unusual for the wives to get loaded while they were at my house!
In my research of Jehovah's Witnesses, I always assumed that alcohol was taboo, just like smoking, etc. I was SO surprised to learn that it is permitted! EVERYTHING else under the sun is off-limits to JWs.....I just thought this was too.
So, little children's birthday parties, with cake & ice cream are evil.......but get-togethers with drunkeness abounding is OKAY. All righty then!
i have been visiting this forum since aug 07. i have hidden in the bushes and watched the goings on.
but now i leap from the bushes and tell all of you how much i have learned from watching you.

i just disassociated myself after nine long years in the wtbts after researching the history of the wtbts and its founders and their lies, false prophecies and mind-control doctrines.

anyway, i'm glad there is a wonderful support group for those who have escaped the grasp of the wtbts and enjoy life again without the constant fear that the wtbts instills at every meeting.

I'm so happy that you found out the REAL TRUTH about the WTS. Hooray for you!! And it's wonderful that you kept your relationship with God. So many ex-JWs blame God and turn their backs on Him......and that's so sad, because the True God of the Bible has NEVER had ANYTHING to do with the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society! The WTS is a counterfeit...trying to "be" Christian, but they're FAR from it.
Maybe not right away....but I'm sure you'll be the "instrument" God uses to free your wife from the WTS's clutches.

You can find them on eBay, but they're usually very high-priced.
are you completely jw free?
My situation is kind of opposite from most on this board. NONE of our family have ever been JWs, but our son married a gal who was working towards baptism (she is now baptized). Now, the WTS has gotten their claws in our son & he's currently jumping through the hoops.....(sigh)

That was BRILLIANT, Victorian Sky! You did a GREAT job! You delivered a powerful SEED into the mind of this father & his son, and I hope & pray it blossoms into the realization that the WTS is NOT "God's true organization on earth", but only a counterfeit.
If WE ALL could say something similar to JWs (as Victorian Sky did) when they come knocking......just think what a DIFFERENCE we could make!!

do you think a witness is more apt to leave the wts because:.
1) ....of indisputable proof of the wts's falsehoods.. or.
2) .....something that personally happened to them that caused a disenchantment w/ the organization.. thanks for you input!.

it just occurred to me that i have never seen a member on jwd who was a minister/priest/rabbi/monk,friar,shamman, etc.
maybe i have just missed their posts and then again, maybe they don't come here for some reason.
i know they must come in contact with jw's and ex-jw's all the time.

It's going to be a long, painful haul.
......well, it's already painful; but we're hoping it won't be terribly long. We're using Steven Hassan's advice (Releasing The Bonds) and hopefully one day soon, they'll start thinking for themselves and leave the WTS. Others have done it.....why not my children?
