just curious....as i can't quite figure out why they do not take part in thanksgiving.
it's such a lovely family holiday.
thanks for any info.. lavendar .
To ask the question is to admit that the inquirer really does not understand the mind - set of J W's, at all.
You are absolutely right, Bluesbrother. I don't understand them, but I'm trying.....because our son is being sucked into the WTS (at his JW wife's prodding). And I want to gain as much knowledge as humanly possible, so I can help him see the WTS for what it really is.
Thanks much!

I feel so sorry for all the JW kids brought up in this insideous cult.
mine are switzerland, germany, japan, sweden, and china.
United States, of course. Then would come SWITZERLAND. My mother was born and raised there, and she immigrated to the U.S. when she was about 21. I have visited there and fell in love with the country! It is SO BEAUTIFUL! I hope to go back one day.

my husband and i were just wondering.......if a son, who is a jw, inherits a large sum of money from his non-jw parents, is he required by his kh or the wts to give a portion to them??.
thanks very much for any information!.

Yes, Juni, it IS nice. I've gotten a lot of good JW-related advice and help (as I have never been a JW), from this board. The WTS is a whole different and strange world to me.....not to mention hard to understand.
I hope you have a great weekend, too!

However, I would stipulate that the money must be spent for education for him or his descendants, for treatment for illness not covered by insurance, or other items that would benefit him and his family. You would need a trustee or someone to ensure that your wishes were carried out.
Mum - how could this be carried out, though? Whose to say he wouldn't just spend it on anything he wanted? I'm afraid I'm not real knowledgeable about legal matters.
Juni - yes, that's how I feel too. All three of our children deserve an equal inheritance, and I feel it would be awfully mean to cut one off. But at the same time, I DO NOT want the WTS to get ANYTHING.
We will look into a stipulation clause when we meet with an attorney. Perhaps (s)he can help us with a solution to this problem.
Thanks all!!

Juni - no, our family has never been involved with the WTS. We've never had any relatives that were witnesses....nor had any friends that were. Our son was brought up in a Christian home. He met this gal (who at the time wasn't baptised yet), they fell in love and married. She became a JW shortly after their marriage. Now, our son is being sucked into the cult.
Would be interested to hear what you have to share regarding your 4 kids.....

Yes, we thought about getting a stipulation in the will that he NOT give any to the WTS. But....what's really to stop him from doing that? No one would know.
If seems the general c onsensus is it would ultimately be up to him whether he wanted to give the WTS anything. And not that the WTS would require him to. Since his wife is even MORE gung-ho as a witness than he, she would probably demand he give some to the WTS.
Oh man.....this is hard. The thought of cutting one of your children out of your will is heartbreaking.
