I really don't expect the org to be perfect.
However, I can only imagine how things would turn out if the shoe was on the other foot.
If I as an elder, a bethel elder no less, 'accidentally' joined a recognized enemy of the 'truth', the JC would:
- Check out how long I had been involved in this 'sin'.
- Find out when I first learned of the error and what steps I took to resolve the issue.
- Look for my repentant attitude, by ready admission of guilt or lack of repentance by my trying to justify or hide my 'sin'.
- Consider how well know the issue is in the community. How much reproach does it bring on god's organization?
Also, considering the lives that have been lost (Malawi, etc.) by jws trying to faithfully live up to what they thought was Jehovah's standard in similar circumstances, it's difficult to understand how they can so easily work around these kinda things.
