What would be on your 1.00 per day menu, and could you do it?
by SixofNine in.
imagine that you're givin the opportunity to win a substantial prize (say, 5000 dollars and a make-out session with angelina jolie or sam shepherd) if you can a) live for 60 days on one dollar per day, and b) retain your health better than other contestants.. ah, screw that, that's silly.
what would be your menu if you had to live on one dollar per day, and you could not accept free food?

Is it healthy to be in a perpetual state of urgency?
by truthseeker inover the last few years, it is apparent that there is a "sense of urgency.
" you may not know this, but the governing body have a "sense of urgency.".
well, the rank and file do not seem to have a "sense of urgency" so the gb encourages them to get one.. .

Absolutely not!
If I only knew the price I would have to pay living in that state from my youth until around the age of 30 I never would have never become a JW. But as we all know we can't turn back time. What could the WTS possibly have to offer young people today? Are any young ones still coming in?

Questions about disfellowshipping
by Gwen ini stumbled upon this site by accident and spent the past several days just reading through the forums.
i must say, i'm both horrified and fascinated at what i've read so far.
although several members of my family are jw's, i have never known much about the religion and quite honestly, have never really gotten to know these family members well.

Gwen:
In some cases it may be necessary for family members to communicate with DF'd family members, however it but the watchtower society advises family members to keep it to an extreme minimum but usually it is left to individual family members to draw their own boundaries of what a minimum is. Some, if not most, don't even follow that and just treat their relatives like any other DF'd person.

What's the best way to FADE away from the JW's?
by JH inwhat do you think is the best way to fade away from the jw org, without being df'd and without being bothered by them?.
just stop going and not answer their calls?.
change congregation, and never show up?.

Even if you do date and eventually get married (assuming she is still a believer) her activity in the organization may INCREASE if you two decide to have children. Many parents become more involved in the organization once they have children. To her and the rest of the JWs you would be considered an unbelieving mate and you and her will not be allowed to get married in a church or a kingdom hall, unless she renounces her faith or you embrace hers and get baptized.
Just food for thought.

I liked the scene when Lana Turner (Madame X) finds out she is being defended by her son and his son doesn't know that she is his mother. I can't believe this film is not released on DVD.
