Correct me if I'm wrong but the one thing I always thought that was good about martial arts was learning to fall. How to fall in a way to minimize additional bodily injury. My thought was that this is something that adults should learn to overcome the fear of falling that seems to come with age.

Martial Arts?
by Godsendconspirator ini have always had a love for martial arts (didn't know how to fight, just admire what the human body can do), but since jdub-land banned it, i just kinda forgot about it.
i admire nate quarry (an 'apostate' mma fighter) and i have been boxing for a year now.
i decided to switch over to muay thai.

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

When I was at Bethel a number of guys I worked with had college degrees that they obtained before becoming JW's. They all got the better job assignments at Bethel. A fact that was noticed by more than a few people who passed up college to pioneer, then Bethel. When I left Bethel I started college within weeks. Now have two degrees and partially into a masters degree. I'd like to thank Bethel for giving that real life observation that a college degree really does get you into a better job.......

I remember that device going off. Woke me up. The "bang" echoed amongst the buildings. Made for conversation at the breakfast table.

The Governing Body for Jehovah's Witnesses has approved the addition of two additional members to the U.S. Branch Committee.
These are:John Ekrann and Robert Raines. If this information is correct, I remember John from my days at Bethel. I think at this point in time he is the Director of Information Technology. So it looks like the Branch Committee needed a technical background (with training/education)....

If I recall correctly, back in the 70's when new Gilead students came to Bethel they would get a tour of NYC and one of the stops they would visit was St. Patricks Cathedral.

When I was in Bethel I worked in the Bindery. There was a guy I worked with that had gone to College and had a BA degree but became a Witness right after he graduated and applied to Bethel. One day, he was told he was going to be working in the Legal Dept. and I understand they sent to get further education and last I heard was still there. It was strange to be in Bethel and know that someone with a degree was almost hand picked over those of us who didn't have a degree because they listened to the Societies advice regarding higher education.
I had that same observation. Three guys I worked with in the bindery had college degrees and they all landed assignments that their advanced education was in. That was not lost on any of us who observed that.

Randy,
Your story brings back memories as I was also at Bethel at the same time that you were. Even recognize a number of people in the pictures from the press room.
Thanks

Bethelite reverence
by Waffles inhave any of you had the experience of a bethelite brother visiting your kh?.
here's how it always seemed to go in my experience:.
there is a general kh-wide excitement in the air that a real, live bethelite rockstar is at the hall; overheard are numerous convo's featuring words like "o, he's a bethelite".. visiting brother bethelite gives the closing prayer and is immediately mobbed by adoring fans.. all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air.

Having spent time in Bethel I can relate to comments made. Some of the guys I knew really took advantage of being a 'Bethelite". One year at a DC I ran into a friend. His name tag, instead of the two lines for name and congregation filled up both lines with the word "Bethel".
