  i ask this question because saki said this in another topic:and i would assume that a lot of people on this board left due to this board alone "proving" the lies of the wts.

  so, it this true or false?

  I'd like to introduce myself

  i'm "alpheta".

  i've been reading here for the past few weeks, but have visited from time to time over several years.. short history, i started studying in 1993, was baptised in 1996, and succinctly and with much planning disassociated myself in october, 2003.. i don't believe i have any lasting psychological damage or issues, but i was curious about the state of the wtbts (or whatever they go by these days), and i found your site and a lot of information that, i have to say, i found shocking at first like - oh my goddess, they really did that?

  - kind of thing.. anyway, nice to have read your posts and i really enjoy the sense of community here.

  i remember many years ago, a sister in her 40's who just joined, told me that i looked like a jw.

  she said i have the face of a jw.... .

  I really relate to large bills, 50's and 100's. Keeps the wallet thinner and doesn't put my butt to sleep when driving long distances.

  I attended a conference at Princeton U. over ten years ago which delt with "Converging Realities". Thinkers from all backgrounds came together to examine the chinks in each argument and where there were commonalities that could lead out of the fallacious debate that was on-going. It didn't get any front page news, but it was confirming to me that leaders of thought have long ago began a process of seeking truth over gaining advantage. Time will tell!

  Regarding the Isreali/Hisbolahh issue, radical Islam is as hellbent on gaining advantage as fundamentalist Christians. For the most part the latter has less violent avenues to get their political positions secured. I'd bet given the circumstances were reversed, Rev. Falwell would love to ship arms to a group of "feedom fighters" who would seek to drive the Musselmen into the sea! How do you spell "Crusuade"?

  i was emboldened by elsewhere's post where he called his mini cooper "nancy".

  the large glass of wine also helped me to make an admission.

  many years ago, i named my car "sully" after the scrumptious character in "dr quinn, medicine woman", mainly to tease my daughter.

  A bit reluctant

  i'm a bit reluctant in writing this post, for i dont feel i should be here.

  even a bit nervous... .

  i've never officially dedicated myself to jehovah, but i was brought up in the truth, very strong, and at times when getting older, there were lulls in my attendance... yet to this day i still attend.

  I left the organization over 45 years ago when it was against the teachings of the WBTS to have vaccinations. One of my older brothers died of complications of polio, which could have easily been prevented by Dr. Salk's vaccine. Twenty years ago, another older brother sexually molested his two beautiful daughters and was finally caught by the authorities. What did the society do? NADA! They knew he was guilty but councelled him not to work with the psychiatric councelling to deal with his malady. He was given the option to face disfellowshipping for getting counceling or go to prison for ten years. Sad to say the fear instilled in him caused him to sit in a cell for ten years, receive no help for his tendencies, only to find out when he was released from prison he was facing DFing for joining a tax avoidance group. How stupid is that?

  I have no "hatered" for the society. Anyone who is an adult that wants to stick his/her head in a hole and refuse to consider the facts, as JWs want all others to do when going door-to-door, deserves the end results....old age with no "end to this system of things". You are likely very much kept in line by the bait of "everlasting life on paradise earth" or the fear of loosing that.

  When the JWs and most of conservative Christianity gets its head out of the sand and realizes these depictions in the bible are not litteral there will be a fresh new wind blow through Christendom.

  And, no, you are not condemned to apostasy just for coming here and sharing. That will come only if you realize that you cannot countenance the hypocracy in the organization.

  My marriage is over because Jehovah was not the third string

  does anyone remember that saying from their dub days?

  i heard through the family grape vine that is why my marriage is over.....because jehovah was not in it and did not bless it.

  it did not upset me them saying this.

  We removed the picture of my mother-in-law from my wifes' dresser in the bedroom. Seems even that intrusion was inhibiting. Can't imagine Jehovah as a voyeur!!
