They would have to be awake to actually hear what you are saying. During studys like this most zone out and think about skiing, how nice sex with brother or sister so-n-so would be. Well you get the idea.

then next time they have a prophecy watchtower study we could all go to different halls where no one would know us and have a prepared answer typed up with watchtowerese language something like;.

2 elders came for a visit
by Goldminer inat first i wasn't going to post this but i noticed a lot of people here have been getting visits from elders lately,all with pretty much the same results.. three months ago,my wife asked an elder if he could answer some of my questions.he offered to come over,which he did,to waste my time talking in circles to basic questions he couldn't answer from the bible.(i.e.
where does the bible say god has an organization and uses a governing body to direct it?
) anyways,after 3 hours of proving his allegiance tot the wts and showing me his level of denial he said he would do more research on my questions and get back to me.one main question that night had been 607 bce.. last week he made arrangements with my wife to return with another elder.that day i decided,based on advice i got here,that i would not use any research notes,only the bible as final authority(unless we got into 607 since you need secular history to support dates).the discussion started on god's organization,and being that i'm not very good at these type of debates,it basically went in circles with one elder getting upset that i didn't believe that god has a visible organization.he kept asking me well,which religion has the truth then?

To all that are reading this if you care about being DF'D or Disasociated never answer the question do you believed the witnesses were God's organization or do you want to come back to mettings. If you answer no on either of the two question you will be Disasociated.
Be smart, don't allow two Elders at one time to talk to you. If you think you must then let them know you are going to tape the conversation. They are not there to help you. So many people feel they owe it to the BORG to be allow the elders to come and visit. IF YOU DO THEY WILL GET YOU AND IT IS NO ONES FAULT BUT YOUR OWN>

reading Proclaimers book
by MerryMagdalene ina very loyal and loving jw requested that i read the book jehovah's witnesses proclaimers of god's kingdom, sincerely confident that it will lay to rest all my objections and convince me this is indeed god's organization to which i must return right away.. ok, i will read it, but only because it's my mother that asked it of me, and she has tried so hard to be tolerant and understanding of where i am coming from as regards my firm stand in not returning.. i thought i would post my notes along the way in case they would be useful to someone else, and if anyone wants to add their own thoughts and notes i would be grateful.
chapter 1--why should jehovah have witnesses?.
since all references to such in the bible are pre-christian and refer to israelites being witnesses that their god, yhwh, is the god, the one god, the only god, and in a contractual relationship with them.

Some fun w/US Watchtower numbers

yellow is total annual baptisms, purple is average publishers, and cyan is attrition rate (total people who left the organization each year).
these numbers relate to calendar years, not service years.

What I like about this graph is the fact that now they only have about 30,000 baptized but in the seventy's as many as 60,000 in one year. So if you look at the decline in new ones happening now it is very nice to see people are getting smarter and doing more reasearch than in the past.

Is the "Good News" really about 1914?
by rockhound in"the good news" that jehovahs witnesses preach from door to door, world wide, has a definite theme that is different than "the good news" preached by the churches of christendom.
"let the honest-hearted person compare the kind of preaching of the gospel done by the religious systems of christendom during all the centuries with that done by jehovah's witnesses since the end of world war i in 1918. they are not one and the same kind.
that of jehovah's witnesses is really "gospel" or "good news," as of god's heavenly kingdom that was established by the enthronement of his son jesus christ at the end of the gentile times in 1914.

The best Christmas Gift for an active JW!
by LDH infriends, (in the true sense, not the jw sense) we all know that the publishing company known as the wbts churns out crap like there's no tomorrow.. part of their motive is to keep jws feeling as though they are not keeping up with god's celestial chariot (tm) if they are not current on all jw literature.. perhaps someone could quote where jw are discouraged from reading 'worldly' literature because surely jehoober has provided the most important reading material through his faithful and discreet slave!
so what i'm thinking is, get a jw a christmas gift.
you can even placate them by giving it to them this week or next week and telling them condescendingly, you know they don't celebrate, but this 'really isn't a christmas gift.

To make you laugh catagory I love your recycling.
Recently I went to the home of a brother and sister he use to work for me. When I went to his back door instead of going to the front door I came upon over ten large boxes and in the boxes where their Society's books and mags...I asked what going on here, they both said I know you have quit and so have we then asked me if I had thrown mine out yet?I just can't do it, but good for you.
