BroMac, yes but by that point a JW is generally in mental shutdown mode. When caught in such a situation my dad would simply say "I don't know. But the Bible can not contradict itself so perhaps it has some sort of a symbolic meaning, because the rest of the bible shows two classes." And then he would just reason to wait on Jehovah to answer it in his due time, and completely dismiss the issue.

What Does Romans 8:14-17 Mean To A JW? Who is the "All"?
by BroMac infrom new world translation:.
14: "for all who are lead by god's spirit, these are god's sons.. 15: for you did not recieve a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but you recieved a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: "abba, father!".
16: the spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are god's children.. 17: if then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of god, but joint heirs with christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together.".

I tried presenting this to my dad years ago. He gave the party-line answer that this was written to the annointed. I told him that, according to JW teachings, Jesus had already intruduced the 'other sheep', so why was Paul here stating that if you are not annointed you are unable to please God. He had no answer. I think as a JW I probably would have said something like:
As other sheep, we are pleasing to God by following the direction he provides to us through the FDS.
I know that is not a great answer, and leaves alot of disconnects logically...but who ever said JW doctrine was defensible?

Can anyone prove that birthday celebrations are forbidden by God?
by FaithfulBrother ini know that there is no mention of any birthday celebrations in the bible besides the two which were celebrated by non-believers.
and it just so happened that on each of these events, someone died (one non-believer and one believer).
but does it mean that just because the bible mentions these two events, that all birthday celebrations are forbidden?

LOL Scully, I love that. I should use that on JWs.

Scenic Viewer, yes it does. It is basically saying "so what if we are wrong, its your job to obey until told otherwise"

Wha Happened, I was once told of a man turned in to the elders by his wife for sending his non-JW son a birthday card. When called to the back by the elders, this man challenged the elder to show him a scripture that it was worng to do. He ended up getting dfed- however I am wondering if the elders instead pursued it as charges of causing divisions/apostasy? I could see elders very easily taking that route by asking you if the WT is in error on this if you would be willing to wait on Jehovah to make the changes thru his channel.

Rick is getting very ecstatic over this attention on this thread right here. He tells others he is a big hit, and everyone is talking about him and that he is getting alot of attention. Oh, and his 'conference calls' that always get 'record numbers'. the phones lighting up and ringing off the hook. Rick, didn't the Wt used to call in and send interference to try to break up your 'damaging' conference calls??

I have become the most controversial poster on JWN.
My reply:
Simply more screams for attention...self-promotion and trying to make himself famous....and unfortunately for him he is only important in his own mind.

Rick, looks like a very informative conference call last night. You do, and have at times, given/distributed useful information. Why can't you simply do that, without the unwelome dramatics? Why do you have to sprinkle (actually tarnish) the good you accomplish with the theatrics? I am sure you will dismiss, and not even acknowledge what I said.
