I wouldnt get dfed if i were you if you have family in, its caused me so much hurt i so wish id just left seeing as you have been gone a while if you are not veiwed as a jw then they usually dont bother dfing you, altho if you are in contct with jws they may still consider you a 'unlevening' influence!! dfing does get rid of people mithering you but if you dont have to do it i would just ignore them they cant df you if they dont class you as a jw |

SO, What happened to : "the generation will not pass away" idea ???????
by The_Replacement inokay, growing up a jw in the 70's 80's and early 90's, all we heard about was how the generation of 1914 will not pass away,(much like witnesses in the 60's and early 70's all heard about 1975) (what a great parallel) conventions, watchtower articles, public talks, endless studies and of course every issue of the awake magazine had it on the inside cover, it was everywhere, brothers, sisters and elders were absolutely sure about this, the society constantly mentioned it in our kingdom ministry (service), it was everywhere.
then with the change in november 1995, it just kinda disappeared and became unimportant.. does the society even mention "this generation will not pass away" anymore ?????.
seems to me, that the past 10 years, it has hardly been mentioned anywhere anymore.. what do you think ??

what i don't get is, really it hasn't changed coz don't forget matthew-24:22 'in fact, unless those days were cut short no flesh would be saved;but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.' The witnesses say this is about the annointed who are still alive and just as things are getting unbearable in the tribulation then jeh will step in and save their flesh, soooo this means they are still saying that annointed ones would be alive when armagadon came!
soooo what i dont get is: how everyone concerntrates on the generation when the society is still tripping itself up by using that other scripture.
altho funnily enough i havent heard it referred to for ages!! maybe they're hoping people will just forget about it, or have they changed the meaning and i dont know about it,
ps. i think the talk was at the dc but in the july after the november watch tower, i'm sure it came out in the wt first!

Finally out of Hiding
by Shador inwell i finally came out and told my parents i did not believe in the wts doctrines.. for me the last straw was seeing honesty's simple clear proof of the wrongness of 607.
'course i couldn't remember all the refs last night but now i've printed them out.. told them about the ngo thing.
of course they said the "ebul 'postates" were twisting the whole thing.. my dad tried to "reason with me" thusly:.

i really feel for you, but im also dead impressed you have told you're family things it has took me over a year to do. and believe me it is crueler in the long run to decieve them it is great that you have been honest,
I'd just say do what i really want to do now and research everything dont take anyones word without checking the proof, i really want to look into things to keep the strength to stay away from the 'truth'
But from my own experience i'd say dont get dfed if you dont have to or if you do then stay living at home coz you're parents will feel better and be able to talk to you alot more, its horriable feeling like you have given them no choice, when they are so blinded by the society, but you do have to be true to yourself thats 0ne thing i have learned.

Please explain how disfellowshipping is a loving gesture
by McKafka99 incan someone please outline the rationale and scriptures used to support the idea that disfellowshipping is a loving gesture?
i am trying to understand how this behavior is justified, when in my mind in seems a simple matter; one only needs ask oneself, 'if jesus (or jehovah) were standing next to you, would jesus (or jehovah), support any shunning-type actions?
' i find it very difficult that the answer would ever be 'yes'.

it is loving because 1. we will see the need to go back to the congregation hence saving our lives at armagadon
2 we will once again live moral lives
you know what i thought i could do a big list seeing as its what my family tells me all the time but you know what i cant! it is as little toe said it is control! they leave you no option but to go back to them, well at least thats what i thought till just recently, i just did a post about what my sister did to me the other day and how that is loving i do not know!!
i agree maybe people should be punished for wrong doing, but the shunning and attending meetings till men decide we can be reinstated is wrong, prod son, king david manassah all were just forgiven, even that man in corinth they so like to quote was back by pauls 2nd letter, now how long was that? he prob just went one day coz he had stopped his incest and got forgivenn, where the hell they get that we should be shunned till men decide we repent??
Also let him be as a tax collector said jesus, well he talked to tax collectors!! jws say he meant tax collectors as the jews veiwed them not as jesus did, and apparently the jews did shun them! but who decides exactly what jesus meant by that! going beyond the scrips or what
what gets me is WHY CANT THEY SEE HOW UNLOVING AND CONTROLLING IT IS?AND HOW THE HELL DO THEY THINK JEHOVAH AND JESUS WOULD BEHAVE LIKE THAT??

For All Who Are Going to the Convention This Year
by drew sagan infor most of us who are going to the 'delieverance at hand' district convention we want to be low on the radar.
but wouldn't it be terrible if we missed out meeting someone else from the board while we attended the same convention?
listing what convention your going to might be to much of a give away for some people, but i really don't care.

So I Finally Dissassociated Myself...
by arecibo inhi guys, .
just want to say how great it is to be able to talk to people in the same situation.
sometimes it feels like there's no-one who can really understand what it's like being brought up in the jws.
