We've got a real cute girl working for us who is, by her own admission, about 50lbs overweight. I guess she doesn't want to go out and purchase new clothes, so she wears stuff that is really tight...not hootchie clothes, but they are just too small. In fact, the other day, she was reaching up to put something on a shelf and her shirt rode up...the waistband of her sweat pants was down below her very large belly. Not a nice look. I understand not wanting to buy a lot of new clothes, but I think she needs to bite the bullet and at least get a couple of pairs of pants that fit.
On a hootchie note, I remember going to concerts a couple of years ago and there were these Amazon girls sitting a couple of rows in front of us. Very tall, very well-padded, wearing low cut jeans and crop tops. When they sat down, we got an eyeful of butt crack and bulging flesh. Ewwwww! Sorry, ladies, I'm all for looking sexy at any size, but that was just gross.

At least you can sleep through some of that drivel, stilla, and not feel bad about it! I now regret all the times I elbowed my sons to stay awake through the endless, over-warm, mind numbing afternoons.

Has the Watchtower set the date 2034?
by VM44 inthe year 2034 has been mentioned in some posts here as the new date the watchtower is suggesting for armaggedon.
has the watchtower officially stated this?
has it appeared in any articles?
-
luna2
That Watchtower article looks like a pretty broad hint to me.
They pretty much have covered all their bases. They've obscured what a generation means within the WTS time structure, they're emphasizing Biblical accounts (Noah) that give them decades more time if you do the weird math of adding 120 to 1914...or you can add 120 to a range of earlier dates and come up with something sooner than 2034. Very clever, cuz, as we all know, no one knows the exact date and time...and the FDS isn't really saying anything for sure except the end is coming soon. Human nature being what it is, people can't help but try to figure it out even when they know they shouldn't This 120 year thing gives the R&F something more to play with and maintains the urgency of the faithful.

I really love how they blow one way for a while and then blow the opposite way for a while. Maybe they figure some of their lack of growth is due to kids going to college, being exposed to rational thinking, and never coming back.
Better to have congregations of folks limping along, barely making ends meet, with part-time work or as custodians and window washers, or looking for the next cool pyramid-type scheme to support themselves. Who cares if they won't have any pensions or health insurance? No skin off the FDS's collective noses. They will carefully phrase their articles to say that "ones should use prudence and discernment" (which means exactly nothing...it's just a way for them to weasel out from any responsibility when the r&f complain that they are gettig older and have no pension to live on...."We told you to use prudence, didn't we?), then they'll hit them over the head with "living simply" (while somehow not getting into debt), and finding employment that allows them to make sure not to miss the five weekly brainwashing sessions and be out peddling magazines and books at least 10 hours a month.
"Let's not be greedy, self-serving, ungrateful
bastardsones, brothers and sisters....Jehovah needs YOU! All humble, God-fearing, right-thinking, intelligent people know that the end of this horrendous old system of things is right around the corner! Don't fall into the temptation of putting off spiritual goals in order to pursue a college education (picture the word "education" being said as though they'd just eaten a spoonful of dog poop). Instead of having your reward short-term in this scummy life, you too will be able to look forward to living forever in a PARADISE earth! Now lets open our song books to song # 222, Keep Your Eye On The Prize."Grrrrrrrrrrr.....idiots!

Cook at home or eat out?
by greendawn indo you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?
-
luna2
I flip flop. I'll cook stuff at home for a while and then I'll have a week when I'll buy dinner. It's just me now so it's not a big expense to pick up a salad or something.
I still haven't learned to cut down on the amount of food I make, so when I cook, I'm eating leftovers for a long time. LOL

5. The elders don't want to oversee the 'arrangement'.
Actually, I think it's a combo of a number of things. They don't want to be bothered because it takes time and resources from "more important things".
Our new quick-build KH (which isn't so new anymore) even had a efficiency kitchen put in the overflow room...all hidden behind closet doors. But the only time they used it was when our hall hosted the school for ministerial servants and they had to provide lunch.
I think we had a potluck lunch at the KH in IL once...can't remember why now. It was either something for the CO and his wife and it was his suggestion to have it at the hall or we were doing a massive clean up of the grounds. Hmmm...the memory is going. LOL

I just played a little mind game with myself. I read the program as if I was actually going to be going to the DC. I immediately got this feeling like a huge weight was being dropped on my shoulders ....hmmm, like a yoke. Whatever happened to that "light yoke" that Jesus promised?
