  Do you miss 'em?

  if you're df'd or da'd and your friends and family have cut you off, do you still miss them?.

  i miss some of my good friends i admit.

  I'm with Linda. I was the lone JW in my family so that was never an issue. My best friend exited the dubs at about the same time I did which has been great. There are some other people that I think fondly of and miss from time to time, but I wasn't truly very close to any of them so its not that hard to have no contact.

  I sometimes wonder how I'd feel if my parents had been dubs and I was shunned by them. At one time that wouldn't have been so bad, now that they're in TX and I don't see them every day, I'm glad that I we have a more normal relationship.

  my husband, the black pearl, had a interesting conversation with his mother today.

  she was trying to be all kiss butt nice, for today that is, to tell him about the new tract that is coming out in october.

  apparently they don't have it yet.

  I know a JW who thinks the tract campaign will cause a worldwide controversy. And then said it might even be a fulfillment of some prophecies in Revelation.

  So many JWs live in their own little bubble world where everything they do (as a group) is important and everybody is looking at them and cares what they have to say. This is what happens when you are "no part of the world"...you lose your sense of perspective.

  Nobody cares about their dumb pronouncements or controversial tract handouts. Most regular people think the dubs are religous nutcases.

  I can imagine how this must feel. People want to feel secure and I'm sure many of these dismissed Bethelites thought they had it made in the shade. They might not have much money, but they knew they'd have a place at Bethel (as long as they didn't get sick and were useful) for life. This is Jah's headquarters, don't you know! Now they have nothing...no money, no place of their own, no more Bethel life. Oh Jehovah, what have we done that you would forsake us like this? ...that's what I'd be thinking anyhow.

  The WTS is worse than any big corporation...companies pay their workers and usually give them some sort of severance package when they let them go...or they are at least eligible for unemployment benefits. Bethelites are just thrown into the streets while the higher ups mumble something about Jehoobie seeing to their needs. How devastating!

  Where did everyone go for summer vacation?

  we are back from our trip to europe.

  we had a wonderful time in denmark and scotland.

  Summer vacation? What's that? In fact, what's a vacation at all. I have three weeks due me but haven't been able to take any time off.

  Glad you had a good time, though. So glad you were able to get hubby to go.

  Nobody mentioned that they had any special announcement...yet.

  Seems to me if there's something really important, like the generation change, they don't announce it at all. They just slide it into a Watchtower study like its nothing special and everybody pretends that its new light and that they really believed that very thing all along. Or they'll "clarify" what JWs personal decision on taking blood should be in a KM...which leaves them more confused than before the clarification.

  The stuff they hype up is the crap like BIG TRACT CAMPAIGN. WhooHoo, we're gonna hand out leaflets deeply condemning false religion and telling them to pack their bags cuz they are toast. Yah, like this is the what? the 400th time the dubs have done that. Wow. Special.

  I recognize GeeGeeBeeGee's new avatar...its half nekkid OFG. I'm wondering if OFG's avatar is GeeGee? LOL

  Re poor little tiny elfin Prince: He's completely screwed up. I'm sure he was screwed up before he made a deathed vow to become a dub and now he's really twisted. What upstanding, Jehover-worshipping, holy dub even contemplates entering a strip club in the first place (unless they want to see women strip and then they'd be in disguise or at least wouldn't call attention to themselves)? Why would anyone go someplace where they had to ask the people working there to stop doing their job? He wants to continue living his life as he always has, going to the places he's used to frequenting, while expecting everybody else to make changes to suit his new conscience. Its a novelty for now and kind of amusing but if he keeps it up these clubs are going to start requesting he take his entourage someplace else...like Dairy Queen.

  Let's just get something straight about 1975.

  nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

  in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

  there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

  Great research!

  I was not a dub in the 70's. I didn't start studying until the mid-80's. I knew absolutely nothing at that time about the 1975 debacle and subsequent blaming of the R&F for speculating and "going beyond the things written". The sis studying with me made a point of bringing it up in our study which puzzled me at the time. Now I know that she was trying to head off any criticism regarding false predictions that might be brought to my attention by evil worldly relatives and others. If it wasn't a really big deal, big enough that they were still getting zinged by critics ten years later, why bother to bring it up?

  spent a few days w. cousin and 12 year old daughter, both jw's, no others in family.

  I remember doing that...explaining this or that simple phrase or feeling obligated to do the whole "why we don't celebrate anything" routine. I can recall feeling as though I mustn't let them think I went along with their customs, that I was somehow ashamed of Jehoover if I didn't immediately explain the JW position. Blah. After about three or four years as a dub, I stopped doing that unless asked a direct question.

  i'm moving on.

  i want to express my gratitude to members here who have steered me right when my own compass was stuck.

  i know i didn't put much effort into becoming friends with many of you and i'm sure that i'm the loser for it.
