  Englishman, just checked out that link! It looks dreadful. Hope katiek didn't float away in that monsoon.

  I'm not a camper to begin with and I don't like mud and rain, so no matter how fab the bands, this would be my version of hell. Ugh.

  As I was reading through that I got an almost nostalgic feeling. It was all so predictably the same week after week, and once you knew the rules (or how to fudge the rules), you could walk through your JW life on auto-pilot. It is boring, but also oddly comfortable in a mind-numbing sort of way. LOL

  My Car...

  so- here's some good news, and some bad news.. bad news first.. my alternator is dead.. good news.. no service for at least a week.

  bad news.. had "dates and such" i had to cancel.

  Do you do much work on cars? You might be able to get a rebuilt alternator, fix the car, then sell it so you'd have something to put toward a truck. Or do you have to wait until you are 18 to trade the service-worthy car in?

  Finally, I didn't worry my child might need a blood transfusion!

  one of my children went on a school trip this week and for the first time ever, i didn't panic and worry about what 'might' happen!.

  i had always, as a good little jw, and even as a faded jw filled in the medical form that needed filling with every trip, the way i had been instructed by the elders.

  when you get to the part that gives permission for emergency treatment, surgery, or (heaven forbid) blood transfusions, you cross out the 'blood transfusion' sign at both ends of the line, then explain what alternative treatments you would accept for your child.. this time, i just signed the form as every other parent had and knew, that should an accident happen, my child would probably stand as good a chance as surviving it as any other child on that trip!.

  I remember the feeling very, very well, Gill. As a parent you can't help worrying anyway, and add the extra stress that doctors wouldn't be able to do everything in their power to help your child due to your own directives, used to knot me up inside too.

  okay, so i'm reveiwing the cases for and against the doctrine of sola scripture, when i see a patirstic quote attributed to st. augustine, in de unitate ecclesiae.

  so i'm trying to find it and a reference website said there was no english translation.

  then i start searching for it in latin, and i came across "epistola ad catholicos de secta donatistarum vulgo de unitate ecclesiae.".

  have any of y'all ever participated in the whole "i can't wait for the new the new order so i can meet and hang out with the bible all-stars" thing.

  my old man always wanted to meet the apostles who were fishermen 'cause he likes to fish.

  i used to picture myself when i was a little kid holding hands with job and moses skipping through the gumdrop forest and petting an alaskan brown bear completly unafraid of bodily harm whilst the 1800 lb bruin grazes peacefully in the pasture.
