i have been lurking for over a year and finally decided that it was time to post.
i feel like i know all of you and feel more at home here than at the kingdom hall.

Amazing how they could just let you drop off the radar like that. I get why they didn't bother too much with me as I wasn't one of the pillars of the congregation or anything. I always thought they were more protective of their pioneers!? In the long run, though, like Pole said...it's a blessing for you.

I do think that she's usually pretty darn cute, but the one preview for Batman (with her in it) that I caught on the tube, she looked blah...hair all greasy and stuff. Maybe it was just that one scene?? LOL
i'm wondering if there are any urban legends passed around at your former (or current) hall, like the one we had about smurfs.
an elder told us that smurfs were created by satan worshipers and were evil.
he then told us about a young girl who brought a plush smurf doll to service at a local hall.
I had no idea that Smurfs were viewed as such satanic objects. I must have missed that meeting or something.
In northern IL, where I was baptized, they didn't talk about demonized garage sale items either. There was talk that certain pagan or spritistic items (tarot cards, ouiji boards, dungeons and dragons game pieces, etc..) could be demonized, but I don't remember anybody being worried about used stuff from second hand stores or garage sales. Heck, hitting garage sales was one CO's wife's favorite way to pad service time.
i think these groups would be a good opportunity for us to go out and preach the truth about the kingdom...what do you say?

I can see why they're doing this, though. There's a sis (or two or ten, but one in particular) that I know who really wanted (may still want to...I haven't talked to her for a while so I'm not sure) to find a husband. She attended other congregation meetings, traveled to many different states visiting sisters and scoping out their KH's for prospective mate material...even traveled to other countries. No luck...and not everybody can travel the way she did either. It's frustrating, especially for JW women.
It may be a big no-no to be doing this stuff online, but there aren't many other options.

Hmmm, this could be why nobody is stopping by and talking to me any more at work. I've missed the Memorial and the DC three years in a row now (got lots of invites to the memorial this year too).
The first year, I felt pretty guilty; the second year just a little twinge; the third year I didn't even blink; and now I can't even contemplate going without shuddering.
Its good to be free from all of that!

When I was fading from the borg back a few years ago, I got involved with an online community of fans of a particular musical group. Between my unhappiness with the JW life and the weirdness of getting to know all these "worldly" people, as well as doing the fan-thing (which I'd never, ever, even in my non-JW growing-up years participated in), I thought I was losing my mind....hence the luna part. Apara means: one who comes and goes. ::shrugs:: It seemed to fit and I liked the idea that I could break it apart or add to it to come up with variations easily if I needed to.
