  Would Witnesses REALLY drink the "Kool-aid" if the faithful slave told them to? Yes or no?

  a "spiritual leader" tells his followers the must put on rebok running shoes and "drink the cool-aid" to join a ufo in the tail of a comet and "go to a better world" so, afew dozen young people do just that to get "beamed up" to the mothership.

  heavens gate cult 1990's.. my mother says "she is faithful to the organisation till her death" which makes me wonder if they ordered a mass suicide like the reverend jim jones did to escape a "great tribulation"....how many witnesses would really drink the cool-aid?...

  without a gun pointed at their head of course!.

  Some would...those that are convinced that Jehover is setting a test of loyalty for them and they will gain everlasting everlastingness by drinking the koolaid of Jah. They would convince themselves that because "time is short" and that it is final hours of the "last days" that somehow this would be a kindness on the part of the Corporate Publishing Executive in the sky, so that His little publishers wouldn't have to suffer excessively. Although, it would be hard to get around not being one of those who would make it through the Big A and never experience death, I'm sure.

  Others would not...those that still had some use of their brains.

  Exciting announcements at service meeting

  we've already had a post on this, but there were other interesting comments.. the brother giving the announcements said that there would be a new understanding of jesus' reference to the generation as discussed at the annual meeting.. an elder giving a service meeting part review of different watchtower articles from the current year brought out the new light concerning 1935.. he asks: "when is the sealing of the anounted ones?".

  elder answers: "there is no specific date".

  later after the meeting, i asked an elder if the new understanding of the remnant now meant that younger people could go to heaven.. he answered with an affirmative "yes" and that we would be getting the new understanding of the generation jesus spoke of in a future 2008 watchtower.. .

  They are utterly ridiculous. This is exactly the thing that they say brands Christendom as "false". Oh, but its different for us, we're somehow allowed to teach incorrect doctrine and spread misinformation. Brighter light my ass. Hopefully, a few more JWs will find themselves unable to swallow these new and improved interpretations and get themselves out.

  A couple of years ago, when I first truly realized that I didn't want to be a JW any more, had learned none of it was valid, and would never be going back, I also had the idea of sending the elders here a really super letter of some sort that would hit them right between the eyes and wake them all up (while also justifying and validating my personal decision not to be in their cult any more). Its a part of the enthusiasm to free the slaves that you get once you yourself become free. From everything I've read, seen and heard since, though, I've come to the understanding that people open their eyes when they are ready to open their eyes and not before. The apostate defence is a strong one as it ensures that the truly faithful will turn their eyes away from anything even vaguely hinting at such an origination.

  However, if some want to send this letter, why not? Either the elders will read it or they won't....though, I must admit that I think it most likely that they'll throw it in the trash just as soon as they realize what it is.

  Is it weird that I don't miss it?

  ok, other than my father, i don't miss anything about being a dub at all.

  seriously, i love my life right now, its great, thinking for myself, doing what i want, etc., etc.. i've only been out 3 months, officially, and i find no "void" or anything.

  i've got a bunch of great friends on the outside, that i had for years while being jw, and then i have my mother and all her family supporting me.

  While I was still a participating dub, a friend of mine stopped attending...at first due to his job and later just because he didn't want to. He came into the store where I work one day and told me that he truly didn't miss going at all. Still being caught up on the JW hamster wheel myself, I was a bit surprised (and also envious). Several years later when I dropped out myself, I found he was right. I didn't miss it a bit...in fact, I felt nothing but relief.

  WTWizard is right. The WTS continues to cut out anything that the members do to make things more social or fun, and they replace what they forbid with admonitions about more meeting attendance and field service. This is probably the reason there is such a strange disconnect between a lot of JWs. They're supposed to love each other but are discouraged from having group social events which would bind them together and make the congregation feel like real friends. To me, this encourages JWs to draw into themselves and become more lonely and solitary...even within families.

  ADVANCE MEDICAL DIRECTIVE sheet on Blood----Check it Out

  i'm not sure if this has been posted before, but i acquired this 'points to consider' about what a dub is willing to accept or not accept when it comes to blood.

  as per usual, it appears that they've purposely made this very confusing and they're speaking out both sides of their mouth.

  on page 1, it seems one of the options is using your own blood: "...during the course of a surgical operation, i accept all medical procedures involving the use of my own blood except...".

  And the spin begins. It was never the WTS's fault that people lost their lives...no, it was rank ignorance on the part of the faithful. Just like it was their own choice to refuse blood, the good, kind WTS never forced anybody to do anything. Its Satan's influence and a sign of the times. Persecution, persecution, the end is nigh.

  Slowly, slowly the blood policy will be dismantled until no one alive remembers what was originally required and it will devolve into saying a prayer before receiving blood or some other token song and dance. They'll be willing to accept the loss of the few JWs who remember or care to research the original stance. Thank Jehovah for this shiney new light.
