FYI, I received an email yesterday from someone in the know who said that worldreligionnews.com is published by a JW apologist.
After reading the article, I'm inclined to agree that someone who is pushing a JW agenda wrote it. Not only is the article poorly written (probably by an uneducated JW), or maybe by an educated but not fluent in English JW foreigner, but it reminds me of the one that appeared the other day that was about JWs, the Russian ban and Trump which was "fake news" and traced to someone in Ghana.
"The Jehovah's Witness denomination is among the most popular churches in the world."
In my estimation, I can't think of a more unpopular denomination in the world but what do I know only having been a JW for 43 years and having thousands of doors slammed in my face and threatened with bodily harm many times if I didn't get get myself off of a homeowner's property.

The Jehovah's Witness denomination is among the most popular churches in the world. With over eight million members spread out over 80 countries, the group has a mission of perpetuating the Scriptures. Last year the Jehovah's Witness group decided to move their world headquarters from the Brooklyn region of New York to the Tuxedo-Warwick suburbs owing to their need for expansion and a more favorable religious location to house the 800 staff who work for the church.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses recently completed the construction of their headquarters. The buildings overlooking the blue sea of the Sterling Forest State Park are all state-of-the-art and eco-friendly, and the church wanted to showcase this to the community. Owing to that, the church set aside two Saturdays, April 22 and April 29, to show their appreciation to the community that has received the church warmly ever since construction began. “We wanted to thank the non-Witness locals and other parties for the warm support they have shown us since we moved to Warwick," Troy Snyder, facilities manager for the headquarters complex, said.
Members of the surrounding communities received invitations to the open house held April 22. 395 invitees showed up to the open house, 205 being local residents and 190 being vendors and contractors who had collaborated with the church on the construction project. The Saturday open houses are particularly special because tours are normally only offered Monday through Friday.
The attendees were all first treated to some light refreshments by the Jehovah’s Witness members. After that, the visitors were taken around the facility in a tour that lasted about forty minutes. Residents of the Tuxedo-Warwick area expressed their appreciation of the vision put into the building’s designs, saying it was of high quality. Furthermore, any fears that the local population had had concerning the effect on the construction of the headquarters were allayed. Some attendees attested that the building had been integrated into the environment of the area to the extent that even the effect on local wildlife was taken into account and reflected in the design. The tour included a video presentation and a session for making inquiries as well.
The most interesting part of the open house was perhaps the three exhibits the headquarters houses. Guests were allowed to walk themselves through the exhibits for an hour each. The first of the exhibits was titled Bible and the Divine Name. It held rare Bible translations, Bible editions as well as unique Bible-related artifacts. The aim of the exhibition was to display how God’s “Jehovah” name was preserved. Exhibit two, A People for Jehovah’s Name, employed visual aids such as graphics, artifacts and personal testimonies to relay the history of the Jehovah’s Witness church. The last display was called the World Headquarters-Faith in Action exhibit, and it detailed the role of the Jehovah's Witness Governing Body in the promotion of scripture, faith, and love.
Any non-Witness locals who did not attend last week’s event are invited by the church to do so this coming Saturday. For those unable to attend April 29, public tours of the facility are offered Monday through Friday.

jared kushner won’t cash out of dumbo heights (or out of much else, for that matter).
ethics disclosures released by wh friday show he is keeping interests in dumbo projects as well as in bulk of kushner cos’ nyc real estate portfolio.
FYI, during the Conti trial in 2012 the figure that Plaintiff's attorney was given for what the Watchtower property was thought to be worth just in Brooklyn alone was $1 billion.
If Kushner & Company purchased over $1 billion in property since 2013, and we know some of Watchtower's Brooklyn property was sold to other buyers (names and purchase price are available in city records), the information in this article helps in estimating Watchtower's wealth. And let's not forget, there's still more of their property for sale in Brooklyn.
Attorneys just love to know what corporations are worth when they consider taking on lawsuits against them, so for future lawsuits, it wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Watchtower's worth in the US alone would be IN THE BILLIONS.

Ethics disclosures released by WH Friday show he is keeping interests in Dumbo projects as well as in bulk of Kushner Cos’ NYC real estate portfolio

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner will continue to hold personal stakes, possibly worth more than $150 million, in at least 40 New York City real estate entities, including some connected to Kushner Companies’ Dumbo Heights properties, new White House ethics disclosures show.
Kushner and his partners have spent more than $1 billion acquiring the Dumbo properties from the Jehovah’s Witnesses since 2013.
Ethics disclosures released by the White House Friday reveal that Kushner is not divesting from three Dumbo-linked LLCs. Those entities include “KC Dumbo Hotel, LLC,” likely connected to a planned hotel by hotelier Ian Schrager at one of the Dumbo Heights office conversions. The disclosure, which pegs the value of Kushner’s interest in the LLC at a maximum $5 million, includes an option to buy commercial real estate.
Another LLC Kushner will hold collects office rent in Dumbo, and his interest in that one is worth up to $5 million as well.
Much of Kushner Companies’ Dumbo office space is still in the pipeline, including 733,000 square feet of space at the Watchtower building.

The Corpse in the Kremlin's Front Yard Tests the Strength of Putin's Faith

April 21, 2017
As that ruling came down, a separate scandal was
unfolding in the Russian parliament over another of the Church’s demands – this
one far more consequential for the Orthodox faith than any competition it might
face from the Jehovah’s Witnesses. A group of lawmakers, including members of
Putin’s party, had proposed a bill calling for the burial of Vladimir Lenin,
the Russian revolutionary and founder of the Soviet Union, whose body has been
on display in Red Square since his death in 1924.
In an astounding victory for the Orthodox Church,
Russia’s highest court ordered the
“liquidation” of the local
branch of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, whose missionary work the government had
deemed “extremist,” in no small part because it posed a challenge to the
teachings of the Orthodox clergy.
The ties between Vladimir Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church were tested twice this week – by coincidence, on the same day, April 20 – and with two very different outcomes.

Almost 40 years after first admitting his offences, a Gold Coast man has been convicted of sexually abusing a young girl in the late 1970s.
Edward Sawden, 69, was given a wholly suspended two-year prison sentence at the Southport District Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to eight counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.
Sawden, a surfboard shaper and photographer, who has work on display at the National Potrait Gallery, pleaded guilty to abusing the girl on several occasions between 1977 and 1979.
The ex-competitive surfer admitted to touching and digitally penetrating the girl at several locations including while swimming and in his bed.
She was eight years old when the abuse began, the court heard.
After the girl's mother discovered his abuse, Sawden first confessed to his local church and also admitted he had committed the offences to the Department of Child Services sometime between 1981 and 1982, the court was told.

jehovah witness charged with historic child sex offences.
friday, 21 april 2017 3:11am.
A member of the Jehovah Witness congregation will appear in court next month after he was charged with historic child sex offences.
Child Abuse squad detectives charged the 72-year-old over alleged offences against a girl between 1979 and 1982.
It will be alleged the man sexually assaulted the girl, who was 11 at the time of the first offence, in the towns of Narrogin, Windy Harbour and Katanning.
“During this time, the man was an active member of the Katanning Jehovah Witness congregation,” a police spokesperson said.
The man has been charged with a string of child sex offences including indecent dealing, unlawful carnal knowledge of girls under 16 and deprivation of liberty.
The man was charged on Thursday after ongoing investigations from the Royal Commission into institutional child sex offences.
The 72-year-old will appear in the Katanning Magistrates Court on May 16.
If you are or have been a victim of child sexual abuse, or if you have information about someone being abused, call police on 131 444.
