  the situation in the united states is similar.

  an article in "new york" magazine tells of professional donors who sell a pint of their blood as many as 444 times in a period of only four years.

  but whether it is bought or not, blood is potentially dangerous.

  This is why we need to make aware of just what jw's do to families, etc.... I know a number of college age kids, they are all aware of what jw's are all about. I hope they spread the word. I will remind them.

  prior to the "passing inspection" by christ , the international bible students:had no prohibition against birthdayshad no prohibitions against holidays such as christmasbelieved that all true christians went to heavenhad no prohibition to participating in governmenthad no prohibition against votinghad no prohibition against joining the military.

  christadelphians had, at least for half a century before the watchtower, prohibited birthdays, "pagan holidays", government involvement, voting, participating in war and joining the military.

  they also taught that true christians would not go to heaven but will inhabit a paradise on earth.. rutherford eventually instituted all these teachings.

  My first response just from the question was, hell no. They are also a high control group/cult. It is interesting that they were teaching those things for so long before the wt was. I heard from a cult guy awhile back that Christadelphians were getting quite active in the south. Couldn't say myself though. Haven't looked into them for about two years.

  another question for all of you.

  at local level elders encouraged members to not talk so much about the hurricanes and the hardships they have made for so many as this kind of talk is not upbuilding.

  people are only supposed to have enough knowledge about it so as to be able to lead into a presentation at the door.

  I would think all this destruction would be right their alley. See the end's coming? something like that? But, then I guess it would bring discussion about what others are doing to help and so many questions rank & file probably can't answer about actual donations.

  I love these threads. I especially liked the 'toys not allowed' thread! It just reinforces the silliness of the wt. But I am sorry all of you had to live it. Sometimes I read some things and I can tell a few of you are probably about my age (by music that was popular or cartoons, etc..) and I just sit in absolute wonder at how different your lives were. And all due to the wt. I am sorry. Still it is fascinating to me. How parents can give such control over their own families to this org.

  my husband is a d'fed jw and i think he is gonna try and make his way back there .

  they dont believe in fate?

  (long story short, we were high school sweethearts, didnt see each other since xmas 1993 even though we lived in the same city then he ran into my mother xmas 2003, while i lived in charlotte and he was here in maryland, i moved back to maryland 3 weeks later and we were married 7 months after that- i believe in fate, i dont think its far fetched to believe that god has a plan for everyone).
