So if we get through October are we good for the rest of the year? Good grief! and they talk about all the rest of us. Sounds like superstition to me.

by skin inwho else has been told that the month of october is a special month because in the past jehovah has fulfilled many prophecies in that month.. we have been told this twice in the last 2 book studies.. examples are: hand writing on the wall in daniels book happened on 5/6th october 539 bce, .
jesus was born in october 2 bce,.
kingdom rule started in october 1914, but the most interesting one is that ww1 started in october of that year.has anyone else been told this?.

Book study in your home

did anyone have the book study group meet in your home?.
my family had the book study group meeting in our basement and it was such a drag.. some of the reasons why it sucked.. the house always had to be spotless.. my mom insisted that there was always refreshments available for after the group meeting.. some dubs used to wander into other parts of the house, including my room.. if i missed the bookstudy because i was sick, some would actually come down to my room to talk.. there were many times when little things would go missing, glasses, magaizines, books, food, you name it.. people would check out my music and books all the time.. i have long since moved out, but mom still has the book study meeting there..

A study in the home with a ubm?! I can't believe they would allow that. If he ever insisted again I would suggest, ok it's your home too, I will then be having some Wiccans over for a meeting next week, then some Catholics, Muslims, and so on. After all, it's your house too.

Either grow balls or you and the kids stop for a snack somewhere and all develop 'food poisoning'. Tell the kids how you don't feel so well and you probably won't be able to make it to the assembly, then ask how they are feeling? they will get the hint and get sick too! Have a great day with the kids. If this assembly continues on till Sunday, food poisoning can last quite some time, don't ya know?

Renting movies, did you really chose what was OK for Christians to watch?

i remember at the hall, there was a speech where the brother said that 90% of movies weren't for christians.
the way he talked, about 90% of movies had sex in it or violence or anything that christians shouldn't watch.. funny thing is that every time i was invited to watch a movie with the jw's, there was plenty of violence in the movie they chose, and it didn't seem to bother them whatsovever.. gee, i rented lots of movies with sex and violence, and it didn't bother me at all.

My husband, newly baptized, has been on a weird 'can't see' movies for quite some time now. Even tv shows that are humorous and even if the couple are married! the channel is quickly switched. Not that either one of us actually verbalize any of this, I know the reason. Lately all the old black & white sitcoms seem ok. yuk. They were old when I was a kid! At least there's decorating shows on, Discovery is ok usually too. However they do once and awhile have things about evolution. He doesn't like those of course. His favorite? anything gloom or doom, Nazi, or very boring like the history of a lightbulb or something.

That's the 64,000.00 question. The magic bullet doesn't exist. But, maybe someone here can come with something. I hope so. I've had the same discussion with jw too.

What would you put in Room 101?
by PaulJ infor those of you that do not know what this is- room 101 is a place where you can bannish forever all the things that really annoy you.
the only requisite is that you have to justify why you want to put that 'thing' in room 101.

Everything you said about wasps could apply to the watchtower organization as a whole. They are bullies and I'm sure many have felt the sting from their 'loving' brothers and sisters and they sure as hell annoy me and do not seem to have any redeeming qualities. carla

JWs picking and choosing which rules to follow
by kristyann indoes anyone else find that many, many jehovah's witnesses pick and choose which rules they want to follow?
my boyfriend's parents are jws and i have many, many examples to share with you!
i'd love to hear if any of you have known of similar type things, or if you know any other rules that jws commonly break.

They are definately a weird bunch. To get over that, or even trying to figure out the rationalization from them when all these things are not Biblical, just look at it like this- Watchtower = Modern day pharisees.

I thought the elders kept copies of blood cards at the hall? or is that just for people with ubm's? I don't even know if husband has one. All I know is it wouldn't bother me a bit to make sure he got the blood needed in an emergency. If that ever happens guess I will have to hope it isn't in our home town where there could be jw's at the hospital.

whyamihere is back home from her LONG surgery!
by HadEnuf injust wanted to let everyone know that brookie is home recuperating from her surgery on monday.
it was over 6 hours long and now she has stiches and staples in both legs...as they had to take a vein from her good leg to repair the aneurism...so she is cut up pretty bad.
stop by and wish her well...poor baby.
