What Do You Think About Home Schooling?
by minimus ini knew a few witnesses who were very proud of the fact that their kids were homeschooled.
years ago, i would raise my eyebrows wondering why these families couldn’t simply integrate their kids with other “worldly” kids.
at this point in time, with so many theories being pushed on kids and their parents, i can see why parents, if they are qualified, could instruct their kids themselves.

I have seen kids who were home schooled by very dedicated parents (not simply for religious reasons) and these kids were smarter than public school education. One family I am thinking of all 'graduated' early and were accepted into Ivy league colleges and went on to be very successful. I think these parents were exceptional and maybe not the rule. To be fair these kids seemed a bit different than their public school counterparts in that they could and would be happy to carry on a conversation with adults on many subjects. They did seem a bit socially different than the 'regular' kids because they did not play the same and had a more difficult time with kids their own ages.
At one time I would have agreed with Stan, things are changing now.
Today I see many young people researching and learning the best ways to home school for many reasons. As for the social parts of homeschooling, today public schools are required to allow homeschooled in for art, gym, band and so forth. Also many homeschooled also have their own socialization things going on.
I don't think homeschooling is the same as it was in the 70;s, 80;s or even 90;s, it is changing quite a bit. There are so many more resources out there now. It takes real dedication on the parents part to be successful.

I certainly don't condone what happened to her.
In her city, "Oakland is among many cities cutting its police budget, despite the rise in murders, doing so over the objections of its police chief."
Makes you wonder if there were more police boots on the streets of Oakland perhaps things like this would happen less often.

"Resurrection" or "Re-Creation of The Soul"? What do really JW's teach?
by EdenOne ininteresting find through a book "inside story of jehovah's witnesses" (1967) by w.c. stevenson, supposedly a former jw circuit overseer.
it's an interesting "apostate" perspective written prior to the wts 1975 debacle.. anyway, at a certain point, there's a quote from a book called "the four cults", by professor anthony a. hoekema (1963, william b. eerdmans publishing company), a calvinist, which makes some sharp remarks about the way jehovah's witnesses teach the dead coming back to life:.
1) in the case of those "resurrecting" for everlasting life on earth, one asks: if the soul is extinct at death, and the body disintegrates and its components are integrated into other forms of life, what is there to "resurrect"?

I once asked my jw how many clones of you could God make then? he paused and said, "I guess as many as he wanted". He still did not see the point. Went on to say that God wouldn't do that. How do you know that? change the subject.................

Promise Not to Make Appeals for Money
by Sea Breeze in"when he who says: ‘all the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,’ fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the [watchtower] publication.” consistent with that, there is no begging for money in the literature of jehovah’s witnesses.. what is true of their literature is also true of their meetings.
there are no emotional appeals for funds in their congregations or at their conventions.

We all giggle and bite our tongues around here when my jw lets a cuss word fly. Sometimes it is so funny we have to walk away.

What’s Wrong With President Biden?
by minimus ini just watched excerpts from his cnn town hall event and something is seriously wrong with him.
he can’t put together a sentence without getting lost, tripping on his own words, forgetting what he is talking about.……this is embarrassing.
and it’s not because he has a stutter!

I think he has dementia, Alzheimer's or some other neurological problem associated with age. If you look back to his speeches when he was young they are like watching two different people. This has nothing to do with what political party one is associated with, he clearly has some sort of health issues.

WT Teaching On Who The NT was Written For
by Sea Breeze inmaybe someone can help me here:when i got baptized at age 23, an elder dropped a bombshell on me.
he said that the new testament wasn't written for the great crowd (me).
he said that it only applies to the anointed, and "by extension" the nt applies to the great crowd.

Does this look like the WT is going to be around a long time? One Watchtower @ One Awake for the public in 2022
by pistolpete ini keep hearing that the watchtower org is going to be around forever because of the many other religions that have been around a long time.
but i disagree because the wt is not like other religious cults.. the watchtower's breath of life is dependent on the last days that started in 1914. .
you can’t change 1914 without a death blow to the entire organization.. the watchtower's 2nd reason for staying alive, is it's continual urging that the life saving preaching work of warning people is the most important work ever.. but- it's very obvious to many, even the old ones that instead of speeding up the work------the work is slowing down to a drip.. comment by former believer; .

DOC said, "FACT IS, JW'S DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY BELIEVE."- until the gb tells them what to believe which is subject to change at any time. So much for God being the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, if one is a believer.

I think the jw's are listed as a cult in a number of books I have read in the past. These were books by cult experts not just Christians, though they could have been. They were college educated, theology, brainwashing, psychology
etc...
