i'm half listening in on my wife's zoom meeting.

in my decade+ in the org, i don't remember ever getting into such minutia about jw hunting rules.. apparently, it's ok to kill an animal to use its skin as a clothing accessory, but it's not ok to kill an animal to use its antlers as a wall decoration.. not mentioned in the talk: whether or not its ok to kill an animal to wear its antlers as a hat.. .

Didn't they try to do this a number of year ago and the truck drivers, rural areas, farmers, etc.... make enough noise to shut it down then? I think they will try to get in in without anybody noticing due to all the other things people have to worry about today. The news should start with, "While you weren't looking....." or "While we were busy repeating the same news 24/7 we missed the following that has now become law....." or maybe, "While we all trying to find what to be offended with today we missed some important news...."

Logical Fallacy… can I get some help here?

dr. leanna wen is currently spreading the fallacy that unvaccinated persons should have vaccines mandated because they are like drunk drivers… they have the right to be drunk at home she says, but wanting to be part of society at large without being vaccinated is like driving drunk and putting others at risk.

besides ignoring the science proving that persons who have had sars cov-2 have natural immunity that equals or exceeds anything that could be imparted from the mrna shot, without the side effects or need for boosters, ( sorry big pharma, you’ll be losing $$$ ) this illustration just smacks of illogical reasoning.

it reminds me of the borg comparing getting baptized to getting your driver’s license.

"...vaccinations that are proven more effective in lowering symptoms and possibly transmissions ?"- Obviously the vaccines are not working that well if you consider Israel or Iceland for example. They have the highest vaccine compliance and some of the highest 'breakthrough' covid cases.

If Joe had the vaccine and Mary didn't they both get sick (they both are in relatively good health, below 60 etc..) Joe has very mild symptoms and thinks he may just have a cold, he continues on with life thinking that. He believes that because he is vaccinated he is free to go the store, dinner, work, etc... Mary on the other hand did not previously ever have covid nor did she have the shot, she is pretty sick, flu-ish feeling and stays home because, well, because most people do stay home if they have flu like symptoms. Who will be spreading covid? Joe or Mary?

Why do people have to call names and say that doctors, virologists, etc.. who have as much education (and sometimes more) real world experience in ER's and hospitals are pseudo scientists or lesser than the doctors who are pushing the vaccine without debate?

This entire issue has become a 'religion' of sorts where one cannot even look at alternative views to make an educated decision for themselves without being called names or shunned. It reminds me so much of when my jw first joined the cult. He was warned off of looking at any alternative views at all, in fact he was threatened if he did. Much like those who are trying to have the discussion about the vaccines, natural immunity vs man made and so forth, they are dismissed as nutters, called various names and their mental status is questioned.

Treating the unvaccinated like lepers will not help society. Nor will it stop covid. Many people cannot get the vaccine or do not want it for various reasons. Society cannot run around saying 'my body, my choice' in regard to abortion or in the case of jw's, refusal of blood and then tell others they do not also have the right to say 'my body, my choice'.

If you have had the vaccine you should trust it enough not to care if your neighbor or the guy next to you in line has had it.

Me.Wonderful, I am a ubm (unbelieving mate, my jw joined up later in life) When I tell people that jw's must hand in a time slip they often don't believe me or think that it is only for the most die hard jw not realizing that it is for all members, in order to stay in good standing or good association. Then when I tell them about the their 'territory' maps complete with notes about each householder they are truly creeped out! "you mean they keep notes about us?! about our responses?" They may even have a note that you are 'big drinker', divorced, how many children, raised as x, y or z religion, went to college or not and so on. If that isn't creepy and invasive I don't know what is.

What Do You Think About Home Schooling?

i knew a few witnesses who were very proud of the fact that their kids were homeschooled.

years ago, i would raise my eyebrows wondering why these families couldn’t simply integrate their kids with other “worldly” kids.

at this point in time, with so many theories being pushed on kids and their parents, i can see why parents, if they are qualified, could instruct their kids themselves.

I agree that in many religious zealots who attempt to home school fail miserably. The ones I spoke about were not in that category.

As for jw's home schooling, well, didn't they say reading the awakes, wt's and their other literature was equal to a college education at one time? I think that says it all.

In the US they are addressed to the home owner by name. That is creepy, they have your name but they do not sign their full name and they use a post office box number instead of their personal address. If they truly believed what they wrote they wouldn't have a problem with any Tom, Dick or Harriet having their personal information to be sent on to just anybody.

My jw gets quite annoyed by getting spam phone calls and texts that do address him by his name. Hello Kettle, this is Pot.....
