sorry careful, bit testy today. as you know it is convention season so it makes life hard on ubm's.
thanks for the best wishes
i was wondering about the jw attitude towards getting tattoos.. redditors suggest that the only jws who have them would have got them before they were baptised.. jw.org gives a meally-mouthed "true christians wouldn't" response.. but no-one (that i've seen so far) answers the question i'm actually asking: is getting a tattoo after being baptised a disfellowshipping offence?.
if not disfellowshipable, how would a typical jw congregation treat someone who got a tattoo after baptism?
would they really treat it like it is a conscience issue?.

"Carla, did you accidentally leave out a noun after "My jw" - No I didn't. He is capable of being my husband like his old authentic self at times and then he is my dear husband, when he acts like a cult member and is in full on jw mode he is 'my jw' because it is not himself. His old non jw self would never behave or believe in half the crap the borg spouts. It is treated like a mental illness now with family members, that is how most people see his 'dubbyness' when he gets like that. Act like a judgmental ass and people might think you are few short in the crayon box. Yes, we will roll our eyes behind your back. He is still both my husband and my jw, I prefer my husband.
Sadly the kids have both a dad and jw who is just trying to get his time card filled up.
He at times has almost a split personality that depends entirely on who he is with or if he is just off of certain meetings. Then I have to wait for the dubbyness to wear off.
You may find my use of 'my jw' disrespectful, you are not the first to point it out. If you were ever a jw and did not respect the sanctity of other peoples marriage and asked a spouse to lie to their 'opposing' spouse then you don't have much to say, it would be completely disrespectful to the other spouse and would make you a hypocrite. Unfortunately jw's teach people to lie and sneak around to further their purposes.
On the other hand if you are currently visiting each and every person (or other anti jw activity) you ever tried to indoctrinate or to get your time in and tell them the truth about this disgusting cult then I would commend you and you finding the use 'my jw ' disrespectful would hold more weight.

From personal experience I can tell you that a jw will be told to get them removed or no holding the holy microphone, holy toilet brush or any other such special privileges. My jw had tatt's before joining this insidious cult and had to get them removed $!$.
"...conscience issue"- come on now, we all know what a 'conscious issue' is in dubland! Simply it goes like this- a 'real' christian wouldn't do x, y or z but you can of course. If you do, we will all treat you like shit for the rest of your life but go ahead. You will be a leper in our midst.

putting this under "friends" because i couldn't figure out where to put it.
it is very often on here and in ex jw videos, ect that people like to undermine some of those who once we would have called friends.
there seems to be a view that window washers, plumbers, cleaners, construction workers are somehow less intelligent than those who may be college educated.
Dear Enough..,
I was just explaining this very thing to a non jw the other day (I too am a non jw, a ubm) as I was saying to the non jw how the elders are not qualified to speak to people about mental health issues, marriage counseling, etc.... I did mention that many jw's are in fact 'window washers'. I explained that it was not meant as a cut to window washers or general laborers' only to point out that they do not have the education needed for such things like mental health, suicide, cutting, depression, post partum, eating disorders, etc........ I also work with my hands often as did my father and most of my family.
Why many jw's are in fact real window washers (or other small business) is often because it fits their jw schedule. It leaves time for pioneering, carts, etc... also fits my jw's lifestyle though he hides his activities from his ubm wife per jw elders & gb doctrines. I, a non jw, am not worthy of 'truth'. (see Aid book) . The non jw could not understand the secrecy of my jw and the life of being married to a jw.

lett and his 'enemies of god' video has something to do with it or added to post partum?

Lett and his 'enemies of god' video has something to do with it or added to post partum? Tragic either way.
"........In the above video, leader of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mark Stephen Lett, refers to babies as “enemies of God” because they are not born as “friends of God”. This comment is dangerous for numerous reasons, least of which is that it is logically fallacious: One is not automatically an enemy of another simply because they are not a friend. We are only enemies if we commit an act that is contrary to the interest of another OR we view someone as an enemy because we have learned to be prejudiced towards other persons or groups."
in addition to the jws false and misleading denial that rebekah vardy was ever a jehovah's witness, a few other interesting developments occurred that are worth noting:.
1. an article in the last days newsletter reporting on how the jw[.
]org website scrubbed clean its jw 'news' page and produced an entire new glossary of jw terminally meaning for the media:.
@Thomas, yes! sometimes we must look at the negative our loved ones hand us as a gift. It is a gift when you find out early that someone will treat you like dirt, saves years of abuse that we allow. I have a friend that tells me every time when I relay a story of when I think someone has treated me badly and she will say, "they gave you a gift" now you will know how they will treat you in the future and you can make plans accordingly.

Regarding whether or not someone is a jw by their baptismal standing is a moot point as far as the public is concerned. It is only jw's who see that as an end all as to membership or not. Even my jw is finally just starting to get it and that is saying something. When I tell him that it doesn't matter if one is baptized or not, if they go to a kh, tell everybody they are a jw, live the goofy life, go out in fs and be your typical annoying jw then to the rest of the world they are in fact a jw whether they are baptized or not.
Even my jw can understand that if someone goes to a Catholic church everyday, says the rosary, goes to confession and follows Catholicism, holidays, etc... then most people would consider them a Catholic whether they were baptized in the Catholic church or not.
As for minors, those poor souls have no choice in the matter so for their childhood to the rest of the world they would be considered a jw baptized or not.
in the latest jw_org cartoon caleb learns from his father that he can be a jehovah's witness without being baptized by becoming an 'unbaptized publisher'.. the video also refers to a potential meeting with the elders to discuss caleb becoming an 'unbaptized publisher'.. https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/children/become-jehovahs-friend/activities/become-an-unbaptized-publisher/.
.
I can't stomach watching it but something I have always wondered about is why jw's use the word 'unbaptized'. It drives me crazy! the word 'un' usually means to undo something; unravel the yarn, it made me unhappy he spit on me, some things in life you can't undo, etc..... To me the word unbaptized would be better for apostates who want to undo their baptism so they can continue to have relationships with their baptized family members. "It would be nice to be considered and unbaptized jw going forward."
'Unbaptized publishers' is so awkward and doesn't even make sense. They haven't un-done anything and furthermore they don't actually 'publish' anything either.
this was posted on exjw reddit, check it out if some of you never have.

i find this to be the case, people in general are so not interested in religion that they really could care less about jws.
When I have told people that my husband is a jw (just to avoid embarrassment at some later date) they all, and yes I mean ALL said, "oh, yeah, it's a cult". Without fail. Then they asked how he got roped in........ well, that sucks. Or they would say, "I thought he was smarter than that". Not one person had a positive view of jw's, not one.
