  As a ubm I can tell you I suffered immensely! You have no idea how damn embarrassing it is to be at a school function with old guys wearing their Korean or Vietnam hats/vests next to you and your jw sits on his ass while the only people who are sitting are those in wheelchairs. My kids would be in school functions and could see him in the bleachers, sitting. Yes, hundreds of people and they could find their jw dad sitting on his ass for all of our community to see. I used to try to scoot as far away as I could like I wasn't with him. Only so far you scoot over when the entire town is there.

  I suppose I shouldn't complain, then came the times that he wouldn't go at all and missed out on seeing his kids in plays, band, etc..... still pisses me off.

  As you can see I still suffer to this day the shame and embarrassment

  i saw two kids who will be laughing stocks for life after their world wide exposure.

  many years ago we would be on someone's doorstep, when waiting for the house holder to come to the door we say something like ... yea after the big a this is going to be my house.

  imagine saying that today with the common use of doorbell cameras and the squatting problem .

  Norway’s Jehovas Witnesses have lost their legal effort to regain the state financial support that’s offered to all religious organizations. Their’s was cut after the state determined that the Jehovas Witnesses don’t comply with rules that members must freely be allowed to join them or leave.

  The Jehovas Witnesses sued in an attempt to regain the millions of kroner they’d received from Norwegian taxpayers based on membership numbers. The state had determined that those leaving the Jehovas Witnesses suffered from strict bans on contact with other members, including their own families. The alleged exclusion policies violated state criteria for funding, and Jehovas Witnesses also eventually lost their recognition as a registered religious organization in Norway.

  Newspaper Dagen reported on Monday that the Oslo County Court ruled in favour of the state, claiming it was within the state’s rights to withhold funding and retract the Jehovas Witnesses’ rights, for example, to legally marry people in Norway. Religious movements that threaten or engage in negative social control of their members are not in line with relatively new state rules regarding eligibility for funding.

  i used to attend the meetings and was baptized about 30 years ago but i haven't gone to the meetings or associated with any one i new from the congregation for around 15 - 20 years.

  i want to get back to studying but i am not ready to go to any meetings.

  other than the watchtower and awake what book is used these days for people just starting to study with jehovah's witnesses?.

  Years ago I asked my jw- if the jw's are always expecting the end to come, are they actually stalling the end because they are expecting it all the time? If one believes the Bible then it must come only when it is least expected, right?

  He said he would get back to me on that. I think that was about 20 years ago and apparently they have no answer or maybe the answer keeps changing so much he can't keep up either?
