  as i sit here getting sloshed on vodka sours one more time, i just wanted to say i enjoyed my time here on the board the last two weeks.

  i won't be able to visit here as much as i'd like, but i'll do my damn best to try.

  prior to r and r, i spent about seven months in iraq, and am not sure how much longer i have to go in this tour.

  anybody up on the new hippa laws in the us?

  can a 12 year old be responsible for issues such as blood and privacy?

  i know that when my daughter who was over the age of 12 had an appointment and the doctors office and the insurance company called they had to clear it with her first if they could talk to me, her mother.

  Yes, I saw that, but, look at all the legal hoops some people have had to jump through. I was under the impression with the new laws children 12 and up have some legal say so in their care. My child had to sign a document just so I could discuss insurance issues. Would there be a document that would be binding for a child as young as 12? I don't think the courts would accept that. I do realize that courts almost always side on the case of the child in need. However, often with the time it takes to go through the legal system, often damage is done that would not have had to occur if steps could be taken earlier.

  I thought jw's made certain allowances for certain diseases? Aren't hemopheliacs allowed blood or parts anyway? Why should sickle cell anemia be any different? I'm sure this has been covered. Not up on blood rules lately. I know I shouldn't be lazy, go to AJWRB and look for myself. carla

  we moved into an apartment on the 2nd floor.

  we were jws at the time, and the family on the first floor under us was studying.. the girl downstairs started hearing noises during the night and finally hearing steps up to the side of her bed.

  she was so scared she hadn't slept in a while and was so tired.

  I can't help you with the sounds you may have thought you heard but, have you ever tried to burn magazines with glossy pictures since? We had to burn a collection of playboy's and others when we inherited a cottage (due to young children and it would have costed too much to get them to the dump, grandma's decision) well, I can tell you those things just don't like to be burned!!! and the parts that don't burn and fly off into the air!!! wow! it's amazing what part of the pictures decide not to burn! No demons here, just glossy print doesn't burn well. We eventually had to bag some of them up anyway, too many body parts flying around the air. However, all the guys were very interested in keeping that fire going and all wanted to be the 'fire guy' for the night! At least they all helped get fire wood that time! carla

  Can't find a scripture!

  i can seldom find scriptures that might be taken as "contrary" to wts beliefs.

  i have been looking for a couple of hours for one scripture and cannot seem to locate it!

  Sorry I can't find the site, but, there is a site that could be helpful. Try typing in NWT and what scholars really say, or is the NWT accurate or something on that order. I did find a site that had all the comparisons, greek, KIT, etc... will try to find if I can. carla

  All I know is that I tell my kids, 'never answer the door', ever. Especially with the jw's letting pedophiles to continue to knock on unsuspecting doors. I am almost always here, mostly just running out for milk or something. They are well old enough, one could even be on her own now.

  My jw doesn't realize that most people simply look at jw's as some kind of 'oddity'. Are they selling magazines, trying to get you to join their 'church' or what? So, of course I inform people as much as possible.

  How can the door to door 'work' last? I can't see it happening. It seems to me the only reason is in fact to fill out the little 'time cards'. Once when I didn't answer the door, I heard two jw's saying, ' should we count this one?" At that time I didn't know what they meant. Obviously they were going to lie on the time slips. Do they even understand that non jw's find it offensive that they even 'count time'?! To think, my husband can now count as time every conversation we have! disgusting! carla
