  at a lutheran church- the chap said he heard me a zillion years ago????

  ( i doubt that)i've only been on earth 78-but his bible study group has been asking "what can we say when the jw knocks at our door" ?.

  Thanks for offering to do this Mouthy! Christians need to ask questions that will make jw's think and to understand that jw's will change the subject. They need to know how jw's operate and how they are taught to go door to door. What gets many Christians is that the issues that jw's bring up are non issues for Christians in terms of salvation. They also need to know the basics of jw doctrine. Many people I talk to are amazed, appalled and dumbfounded when you tell them some of the doctrines- 144,000, Jesus is only for the annointed, what/who are the annointed, paradise earth, a new one to me was even after all this time was that jw's believe it never rained on earth until the great flood, the difference between a soul for a Christian vs JW, what happens at death, etc.... Some Christians cannot defend their faith very well and it makes them look like they are just going along with the program like jw's. Some Christians I know are not as concerned with the OT as the NT so they sound like they don't know anything to a jw. Not that the OT is not important but most Christians will say 'we are not under the old laws'. A jw cannot understand freedom in Christ, what does that mean to a Christian? To most jw's they think it means you are free to sin and 'do whatever you want'. I believe they do not have the capacity or real understanding of 'love'. Just my own observation and opinion. No need to write how many truly wonderful some jw's are, of course there are. Just a generalization. Your Lutheran friends need to know what shunning is, growing up Lutheran we didn't have that. They need to understand how far that is taken. The blood issue, and other scandals are an interesting aside, but the Lutheran's are probably more interested in reaching them Biblically. I would say the biggest suprise to Christians is that Jesus is not the mediator for everybody only these few elite jw's. Just my two cents. thanks again, carla

  one of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.

  they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.

  i was once counselled for joking around too much.

  You know in rereading it, I think a jw would respond with something like this, " the article doesn't say only jw's will survive or that all non jw's are pests, it is simply saying that the ungodly will be destroyed'.

  But as we know the only godly humans on earth are jw's in their minds. I think most jw's are just loathe to actually admit it outloud because they know it sounds ungodly and judgemental to 'outsiders'. Still believing it though.

  The end is nigh

  do you guys think we are sufficiantly along in the month of october to be able to say that the end isnt coming in the fall of '05?.

  when i was a dub i really thought the end was coming this month.. 1975+30= 2005. if adam was 30 when eve was created this would be the end of the 5000 years of since jahs last rest.. eve created, jah rest for 1000 years (1k years is as one day to jovah) he picks up work again 1000 years after eve is created.

  now in 2005 that means he has just 1 more "day" until the next great 1k years sabbath.

  Something I realised today......

  mrs ozzie and i were at koorong bookshop today; we hadn't been in a while and mrs ozzie wanted to get a particular book as a birthday gift for a friend.. koorong bookshops are religious bookstores here downunder and supply heaps of good theological books, bibles, recordings and the like.

  when we were making our first steps along the road to freedom out of the borg, we were regular visitors to koorong and built up quite a library from the books we bought there.

  like i said, we haven't been in perhaps a year and we mooched around a bit.

  Good for you & the Mrs.! But if you still can find time once and awhile to inform others it would be so helpful to the non jw world. I could hardly find any ministers that knew anything about the doctrines of jw. It was so frustrating them telling me all I needed to know was in the Bible. I still needed someone who knew both. The Bible and jw doctrine and way of life. The churches are so unprepared for this cult. So thanks for taking the time to inform others.

  My first topic, my struggles with the dubs.

  first and formost i'd like to say thankyou to everyone who has ever posted here before, your posts have made me laugh, cry smile and frown.

  up until about two weeks ago, i was nervous about posting here, tonight, at 5:04am as i write this, i am no longer so, the fact of the matter is, i really don't give a damn as to whether or not someone in the local congrigation reads this or not.

  i'm not a jw, i never have been, and barring getting really steamingly drunk for a good few years on the trot or suffering some other similarly catastrophic brain trauma, i never will be.

  I'm so sorry for your situation. I too am a ubm (unblieving mate) and know a little of what you are talking about. How much do you know about the org? Have you done any research? Have you looked into legal options concerning your children? In my case, there was no way in hell he was ever going to bring my kids into a hell. Luckily the kids were old enough to notice the changes evident in him. What will happen if the kids need blood? What will you do? Do the elders know about her affair? That could get her df'd again. Others here will have some advice for you. I would suggest doing some research into the org first so you know just what you are up against. You sure have a lot on your plate right now! Keep posting and asking questions, it really does help you deal with the situation.
