i remember going door to door in the late 60's with my mother as a 5 or 6 year old.
one time she caught me looking at the wind chimes on a porch.
she told me they had pagan origins, were evil, and were somehow connected to demons.
What a wonderfully insightful child you were!
let me start with: this is not a discussion of the validity of the bible or whether it is inspired of god.. my question is why do you think they don't use grace in their teachings when this is such paramount teaching in the rest of the christian world.
and why do they not reference the hebrew word for helper in genesis 'ezer'.
this word as applied to a woman seems more dignified as it carries the connotation of strength where the man is weak.
Imagine if jw's found out that their sins were already atoned for by Christ' work on the cross and there was no need to ride the coattails of the gb or the anointed? that would be the end of the jw's as we know it. (from a mainstream Christianity point of view)
so familiar and for all the same reasons.. the amish keep to themselves.
and they’re hiding a horrifying secret....
Waton, yes, Amish girls can go wild too. Just like the boys. Then they make a decision to stay in Amish life or join the outside world. Not all the teens do rumspringa, some never do the wild thing but dedicate themselves to all things Amish, get married, kids, etc....
well, these stories are always fun, right?
let me share mine.. my husband and have been pimo for 2 years.
inactive for one year.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this.
I agree, by all means protect any children from this insidious cult. Your family should be a package deal and children should be free from the negative and mean comments made by jw's about their parents. Not to mention the spiritual abuse and possible physical/sexual abuses within the jw community.
Wishing you and your spouse all the best going forward.
the watchtower and awake have been considered as the most read magazines by christians.
do you think that all christians agree on it?.

Whatever numbers the borg publishes doesn't matter anyway, the company store makes the members buy them! It's like when you family member authors a book and everybody goes and buys a copy or two on Amazon, leaves a raving review and then there are few to no sales after that. Only with the wt they have built in buyers they produce themselves on pain of being considered less than....
If a pioneer buys stacks of them and claims to place them so what? did they really? maybe they are sitting in their garage or they simply toss them in the McDonald's garbage can on a coffee break. They still would rather buy them and have the elders and cong think they are super dub.

I don't know any Christians (mainstream) that even consider jw's as 'Christian'. If any Christians are reading it, it is only so they know how to answer them at the doors not because they believe anything from the cult literature.
If the jw's think by placing them in public places and they are finding them gone later is because someone is miraculously reading them they should think again! everybody I know Christian or not remove them and toss in the garbage as soon as they see them, particularly in hospitals and Dr offices.
about a month ago i had mentioned my niece who's jw parents kicked her out.
i let her know that she is welcome to my home if she wanted to come.
well, i found out through another relative that her jw parents (my sister) learned that i was more than happy to take in their daughter.
I agree with Smiddy that you shamed them into allowing her back home. Too bad it will be a rough time for her and their pressure to become more 'spiritual'. Let her know your door is always open and maybe one day she will show up on your doorstep! I hope the parents can do the right thing and love her unconditionally but don't hold out much hope where jw's are concerned. Wishing all involved the best.
normally when jws come to my door, i very quickly tell them i'm not interested in the jws.
and for about a year or so they don't come until that time passes.
well, they came by today, but this time i decided to not tell them to go away but had a nice conversation with the two that were at my door.
I'm with JeffT, most jw's don't know squat about their own doctrines. Even when they find they are wrong they shake their head a bit and go on as if nothing has happened. They will slowly revert to whatever they think the doctrine should be until they get in trouble with an elder for speaking it out loud.
within the very documentary is a reason i think that jw's for the most part will not wake up even if they watch this program.
the one lady actually saw as her family sat behind the abuser in court supporting him despite the established fact that he had abused their very own child.. this shows how deep the indoctrination is.
i am not saying that some won't wake up, but the majority will carry on, not even because they think these things are lies but because they will look past that at all costs to side with jehovah.
It may not have any effect on current jw's but it sure will keep anybody from considering the jw's as a religion they want to check out for their own spiritual quest!
