The first thing that is amusing is that he, as a jw, is concerned that she somehow got his number and was a bit disturbed that she wouldn't tell him her last name! Hello kettle...... on to listen to the rest if I am able.
Not one of them are willing to have an actual conversation. As soon as they can't answer they 'have to go'. But we all knew it would go that way.
bottom line is this.
she came in from the weekly meeting, we sitting and talking and she said.
the society is giving us some food.

the kh's in our area have no mailbox and therefore no mail can be delivered or returned to a kh.. thanks in advance!.
Unwise to give their personal address to strangers?! yet they have our addresses and more?! How can a jw not see the double standard here? They send unwanted material to complete strangers and we can't know who they really are? My jw has a fit when he finds out I have been "talking" to apostates online because they are 'strangers' and you don't know if they are for real blah, blah, blah. How is it any different when they are writing to strangers?

anyone else get a food box delivered by local congregation to your door - allegedly by the society?
weird.
i looked online and found a couple of youtube channels saying the society is taking food from food banks and giving it only to their congregations.
Mine got one too, said it was from the cong, I corrected him and said it was a government program and it was meant for the needy. He said because there aren't many needy/poor people around here the cong distributed it among itself. My thought is, we have food banks around here and there are needy people everywhere. I'm sure the local food bank could have benefited with some fresh produce. There are some very wealthy people in his cong that really didn't need a food box of any kind.
so a couple of weeks ago my wife (who is an active jw) got a delivery of apples, oranges, potatoes, carrots and onions.. the story i heard was that the "branch bought a bunch of food that would go to waste and was delivering it".. i am in california and a friend of mine in another cong.
50 or so miles away had the same thing happen.. a few days ago we got another delivery and as a matter of fact my wife was asked if she could "help jehovah with delivering his gifts".
unfortunately she is in poor health and unable to so so.. anyway, the story seems fabricated to me and i am wondering what is really going on.. does anybody have any ideas?
If it is in an area where it really is not needed they should donate to a local food pantry. Yeah, I know, when pigs fly.
i would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.
i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.
i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.
When issues would come that no jw could really explain, my jw would say; "you have to come to the meeting to understand". My response would be, " you mean I can't understand the Bible without the org AND I can't understand one of their magazines without going to a meeting? why hand out the mags then?". crickets.
