I didn't say anything about the polio vax. If you actually went to the link and read it you would have seen that I cut and pasted from ABC News story- "LONDON -- Four African countries have reported new cases of polio linked to the oral vaccine, as global health numbers show there are now more children being paralyzed by viruses originating in vaccines than in the wild."

It always amazes me when people comment but don't actually read what they are commenting on. Not everything is so very black and white even with vaccines. The fact that so few seem to understand wild polio from vaccine induced polio is disturbing to say the least. Give the kids the right vaccine to begin with and this wouldn't have happened. This caused many not to trust the powers that be, WHO, governmental health, etc....

Why do so many not trust WHO, US Gov, etc... when it comes to covid vax? if the past 2 years doesn't tell you than how about this article? gain of function or no? They aren't even trying to pretend it's not anymore- https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.10.13.512134v1.full

Illinois Elders as mandatory reporters must undergo training

illinois now requires all elders as mandatory reporters to undergo state approved training every three years to ensure they fully understand their roles as mandated reporters.

this will include a pre training assessment, 60 - 90 mins of self paced, interactive training with a final assessment to ensure reporters understand their responsibilities.

following the course, mandated reporters must make a declaration that they understand their status as a reporter and will fully comply with mandatory requirements.

I don't understand why they focus on IL and not all states. I have a therapist friend who says all states have a mandatory reporting obligation.

More money and meeting with 3 elders

so, we had this meeting with 3 elders ( larry, moe and curly) my uncle who is the lawyer sat in the room and stayed quiet, and fact for 40 minutes we let them talk.

we would just sit there.

they went into along winded monolog about how the world is in bad shape and getting worst.

I once showed my jw that Jesus was not his mediator and he still wouldn't believe it. Not sure he quite understands it today.

grace gough (“mouthy’) sent me 83 cassette tapes 16 years ago (2006).. .

when she sent them, i understood them to be ‘testimonies’ of jws who became christians.

there are some labeled “so-and-so’s testimony” so at least some are that.. others appear to be talks, like the morning session of the 1981 “ex –jws for jesus” convention.

Lifetime Regret for Not Expressing my Love to a Non-JW

i want to impart some advice from my life experience that i hope will help others in a similar situation and prevent them from making the same mistakes i did, ruining my life.

to begin with, i’m a 52-year-old single woman, i’ve been a devout jw since i was a little girl.

i had an abusive dad who left my mom, my two sisters and me when we were fairly young.

You were having an emotional affair and you regret not breaking up his family for your own pleasure? you regret not having his kids grow up with a dad in their house and loving their mother? you have lived 25 years in a fantasy of your own making and continue to fantasize about what could have been?

Simply because you two didn't actually have sex doesn't mean that your relationship wasn't completely inappropriate in normal circumstances much less for a jw.

I would be of the opinion that you need therapy to live out what days you have left in joy and learn how to let go of this fantasy you have in your head. Pining away for years and years for what may or may not have been reality is not healthy. You also need help to navigate the whole jw thing as well and learn how to leave it behind as well. It is a toxic cult. Please find a counselor to help you through this.

Virgin or whore complex that Witnesses have made my married life difficult!

so was a virgin when i got married but my wife studied later in life and had been married for 6 months and had two boyfriends in her past.

my strict witness mother hated my wife and thought she was not good enough for me.

she thought all worldly women were dirty whores who cannot keep their vaginas to themselves.

You are sitting in a church type setting and some creep is discussing oral sex in front of everybody?! in front of kids and grandma's, men and women, teens, aaahgh, my head would explode! if someone started discussing that in front of my small children.... I would be in jail for beating the crap out of them.

How can people just sit through this?

My mom died.

my jw mother died july 5th.

it was quite honestly not that emotional for me.

Hello Noni, I don't know quite what to say about your mom. I do send my condolences and also so very sorry that this damn cult has brought so many to the same feelings you have now at what should be a time of grief. If it hits you one day anyway, I send my wishes for you to find peace.

Also, considering jw's think of the rest of the world and in particular leaders, kings, etc... as controlled by satan then they would be their 'enemy' correct? Doesn't Jesus tell people to pray for their 'enemies'. When jw's refuse to pray for leaders, kings, etc... as well as for apostates then clearly they are going against Jesus Himself, no?
