I showed my jw about Jesus not being their (rank & file) mediator from jw publications and he still didn't believe me! This was a long time ago now, I think his reasoning was that one of you darn apostates must have told me about it so therefore he wasn't going to address it in any way, shape or form! I so wish I was kidding about this but no, that is how a jw brain really works.

Opening doors, putting your foot in the door and other dangerous activities
by Anony Mous ini was listening to the news and there is this big brouhaha about someone shooting someone through their front door.
apparently the person tried to open the door of an elderly person, scaring the homeowner and they shot a gun injuring the person.
obvious castle doctrine case.. which made me remember a rather overzealous old pioneer that used the same tactics when he knew the homeowners were home but didn’t want to come to the door, he would start opening the storm doors and try to see if the door was unlocked so he could yell inside.

I think an example would be - A- not castle doctrine- you set up a gun to fire if the door is opened, people with cabins who get broke into have done this and it is not considered 'castle doctrine'. It doesn't work because you are only protecting your 'stuff' not life itself.
B- you live in a house and keep a gun close by because your neighborhood is filled with crime. Somebody is attempting to get into your place and you truly believe they will harm you, you warn them and shoot, they die. In a case such as that you may use 'castle doctrine', not saying you will get off with it but you could use it. Depends on what part of the country & county you may be in. I think I remember a case of a grandma who called 911 while someone was attempting to break into her apartment through the glass doors. You can hear her telling the guy repeatedly "I'm going to shoot you!" still he came, she shot him, he died, she did not spend a day in jail.

Castle doctrineA castle doctrine, also known as a castle law or a defense of habitation law, is a legal doctrine that designates a person's abode or any legally occupied place as a place in which that person has protections and immunities permitting one, in certain circumstances, to use force to defend oneself against an intruder, free from legal prosecution for the consequences of the force used.Wikipedia---Don't shoot the messenger, just relaying the doctrine for those who may be unfamiliar with it. -

I remember before my jw became a jw, a person entered our enclosed porch to knock on inside door. It was a big guy with long hair and long trench coat. It would be tantamount to walking in someone's house in my opinion. So my husband is just getting home from work and finds this long haired giant in our porch while I am trying to get rid of they guy (salesman/canvasser, whatever). Guy leaves and husband is irate! "what kind of weirdo does that?!!!! with a woman alone with small children!!" --- fast forward to now and recent past? yep, my jw is that kind of weirdo, thinks nothing of it.

Shunning Jesus
by AEnEm inmy first post will be hidden in the far more important news about am3.
incredible!
who knows what the ramifications will be.. as a pimo who still believes in the bible and christ, i wanted to share the following fun fact about the latest study publications.

I have said basically the same thing as the original post to my jw. He claims that "no! we love Jesus! we even end our prayers in His name". I concluded that they use 'Jesus' more as a talisman of sorts, just a way to end a prayer.
What my jw cannot wrap his head around is when I say jw's are not Christian. They don't believe in salvation through Christ nor do they believe in the resurrection the way mainstream Christianity does. Though there are many denominations those two beliefs are what do tie Christianity together.
I believe the gb is in fact blasphemous by claiming you need to go through them for any 'hope' of making it into the 'new system' 'paradise earth' (both of which are non biblical as well).

WI clergy/elder/pastor abuse, etc..
by carla ini realize this is a bit old but the attorney general is still looking at cases from any denomination of clergy abuse (pastors, elders, priests, etc..) in wisconsin.
i only stumbled across this due to someone else posting a video and ended up on kim mikey youtube on it.
if anyone is willing to add to the jw abuses issues in wi i'm sure the attorney general would still like to know about it.

England: Failure to Report Child Abuse to be Illegal
by notsurewheretogo inpeople who work with children in england will be legally required to report child sexual abuse or face prosecution under government plans.. .
the move - which is subject to a consultation - was recommended last year by the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse (iicsa).. .
the home secretary told the bbc she wanted to correct one of the "biggest national scandals".. .

"your cong accountable"- I'm a ubm, never been a jw, I would never align myself with such a disgraceful organization masquerading as a religion claiming to speak for God.

"Read the threads about df."- how about you reading about people who were actually molested and raped by jw's and then had to go sit in a meeting where the abuser is up on stage preaching! and there are even people who's own parents are yucking it up after the meeting with the abuser who they know raped their child. It is unconscionable that anyone who is an abuser is put in a position of authority or even be amongst law abiding people much less telling people how they should be living their life.
Yes, these abusers often do admit to their crime but if they cry about it enough and say how bad they feel they often are barely even marked. If they do get df'd , big deal, they go sit in the back of the hall for 6 months, cry some more and all is forgiven by the elders. The entire congregation and non jw's should know this person is a pedophile!
A rare time I talked to an elder he admitted allowing a pedophile back into the congregation and knocking on our doors. Why? there were not 2 witnesses to the crime. I think he has since developed a conscience because he seems to have gone missing. Perhaps he is on board like this one.
Some day you will have a dark night of the soul and I wish you well; because your constant sticking up for this ungodly perverted child pedophile protecting cult is sickening. Even you one day will see that you have been complicit by attempting to justify their mere existence.

Let The Right One In (novel)
by LoveUniHateExams inso, i've already posted stuff about the 2008 film of the same title, directed by tomas alfredson.. i rate that film very highly, so i thought i'd treat myself over the xmas holidays with the novel by john ajvide lindqvist.
the book is a lot darker in some aspects - the film sensibly tones down the paedophile desires and exploits of haakan, the girl vampire's carer.
nobody wants to see that kind of stuff on screen.
