This seems to have nothing to do with the Dub you pine after. This is your problem.
Being afraid of being alone is a poor excuse to stay with such a loser. How much pain are you willing to continue to put up with?
I'm sorry but people who make these kinds of choices and say they lack the strength to leave just pisses me off. Last year I had to watch as a friend stayed with a man who infected her w/ an STD, stole from her, and beat her on several occasions, the last almost fatally... she lied to us, her friends because she 'loved' him and wasn't strong enough to quit such a powerful love.
I call BULLS**T! on such a statement. We are all of us stronger than we think. We just need to overcome fear's inertia...
I say dump the Dub and find a nice guy who will introduce you to his family and maybe, if you're lucky they will love you just as much as he loves you.

Clipless pedals, anyone?

Just like I did when i first started riding with toe straps. I had them cinched too tight and couldn't get my foot out at the stop light.
I practiced in-store with the clipless but promptly forgot at the next intersection. I guess I need to fall in order to learn. -

JW couples don't love each other
by Nosferatu inhas anyone else ever noticed this in the kh?
married couples don't seem to show any affection to each other.
however, when a couple is dating, they will hold hands.

It's not the absence of affectionate actions in the hall that I was thinking of when I first read this post.
For these dub couples it's the deadness in the eyes, the tension in the air between them. they will place the entire family between them even though the kids don't need the parents' full attention. It's the arriving in separate cars and never even speaking to each other before or after the meetings.
As I got older and understood what I was seeing, I saw lots of miserable couples. -

Elders teach "Don't raise your hat to a lady! - it's worldly."
by ozziepost inback when i was a boy in the 1950s many men wore hats and so did my father.. one evening at the kh he was called in to the backroom by the elders for a 'meeting after the meeting',.
his crime?
he had been seen raising his hat when greeting women!!!!.

Just like anywhere there are couples whose relationships have gone stale or they have grown apart. The biggest problem in the congregations is these people have limited options* and pressure from the elders not to make descions that could possibly stumble their brothers.
*scriptural divorce-somebody gets DF'd
unscriptural divorce-nobody gets to move on with their life**
separation-leads to speculation and gossip in the congo/circut/district/ and so on
Stay together vI.0-it pleases everybody(congo / elders / god) except the couple, thereby creating unhappiness and resentment in the relationship, i.e. the original post.
stay together v1.5- it works out (much more rare, in fact, I've never seen it happen)
**Okay, somebody finally gets tired of celebacy and a lack of intimacy and moves on. DF'ing ensues and if it all works out they join us on the board.

It is not good to flatter people, to turn their head; it is to their harm. Specifically, why would a woman want this special show of respect from a man? One woman said in response to this question: "You don’t know how important it makes a woman feel to have a man tip his hat to her." That is sufficient reason for Christians to refrain from the custom. It is not in the interests of the individual to make him feel important, whether the individual is male or female
And I suppose being called "elder" doesn't make anybody feel special... Leave it to the dubs to link good manners to the devil. -

I am taking the Borsalino out of the box this weekend and tipping it to every woman I see. I may even walk past the Catholic Church as well as see what happens...

What are your most hated JW words and phrases?
by Low-Key Lysmith inmine are, in no particular order:.
"the friends".
"glean".

Low-key,
You aren't alone. I remember the Muff n' Egg. I remember cursing that lukewarm, tinfoil-wrapped delicacy while my stomache grumbled and rumbled in the middle of the 11:00 a.m.ramblingstalk from the platform.
I decided to spend my tickets on puddings from then on.
My hated catch-phrases were; Self-Abuse (I was trapped in a road trip to a DC with an new elder who wanted to help me if I had a problem w/ 'self-abuse' after my separation from my wife), Theocratic (as it was always applied to individuals, wouldn't they be a 'theocrat', much like I am a Democrat?), and Local Needs (Shouldn't that be what we are mostly concerned with anyway?). -
