this coffee is the s**t
by littlerockguy inhave any of you guys ever tried this coffee or even heard of it?
it sounds interesting i have found some sites that sell it though it is expensive and i have seen sites that explain the benefits of the processing.
i discussed it with a couple of people and they said they wouldn't try it but i might but i wouldn't spend the money for it, lol.

We actually have a jar of Kopi Luwak at the roastery. It's really just another way of processing, what really matters is the roasting. I find it to be under roasted for my tastes. They say it is to preserve the flavor. BFD, I need to send you some better coffee than that.

My friend's father died.
by cyd0099 inthey were estranged for years and only made progress on healing the rift during the last two or three years.
his passing was pretty sudden and he was not so lucid in the final month.
i encouraged my friend to call his father and talk to him, even if his dad didn't appear to understand.

I hope so. I talked with a mutual friend of ours whose father died a few years ago and I'm hoping he can come with me. This second friend, Mike has a wicked and dark sense of humor. He asked me if we were going to induct him into the club (Our dad's are dead club?). I had to laugh.

His passing was pretty sudden and he was not so lucid in the final month. I encouraged my friend to call his father and talk to him, even if his dad didn't appear to understand. I never got to the chance to say anything to my own father so I knew my friend would feel better for calling.
My own father died while I was still in with the dubs and I never got anything more than words from a small handful of my "brothers". After the first few times, "I'm sorry" loses any meaning.
So when my friend comes back from the funeral I am going to his office (he's self employed) with my birthday bottle of The Balvenie Portwood and two glasses and just have a drink with him and if he wants to talk about his dad or toast the dead or just drink in silence or whatever, we will do it.
It's kind of what I wish someone would have done for me. -

WTBTS refuses to return 100,000 pound donation from DF man
by dozy inwatchtower society declines to return disputed 100,000 legacyby emilie filou, third sector, 13 february 2008 .
the charitable arm of the jehovah's witnesses should return a 100,000 legacy from a man it expelled for trying to convert call girls, one of the man's relatives has said.. martin davis said the watchtower society should return the money left to it by his cousin donald kennett so it could go to kennett's nephew, who is autistic.. accepting money from a member who had been expelled would damage the charity's reputation, said davis, of dulwich, south london.. kennett was befriended by a jehovah's witness in the 80s when recovering from a serious car crash and joined shortly afterwards, davis told third sector.
he was 'disfellowshipped' from his group in stockport in 2001 after members discovered that he was contacting call girls.. when kennett's mother died in 1994, she had left half her estate to him and half to his autistic nephew.

I wonder how a congregation would feel if a DF'd person walked into a hall and started handing out dollar bills to the "brothers". The society has already set the example.

How often does the average person get a JW to there door - not often!
by jwfacts inthere is a thread at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=aiqqg3xcilesnap3lmkpr98jzkix;_ylv=3?qid=20080115211135aaqpdtb where a person asks how often does has a mormon or jw been to someones door.
the answers surprised me.
most people said not often or never.

I've been living near the downtown core in the same apartment for over eight years and I think they've been here twice in the beginning. But not once in the last five to six years.

Elders breaking ecclesiastical privelege.
by avishai inhow often have you seen this happen?
seems like even when i was a little kid, i'd find out why someone got df'd.
usually almost immediately.

The only time I ever heard of any elder invoking ecclesiastical privilege was when my parents threatened to sue an elder for harassment and slander. He hid behind it like a blanket.

Back when I was still in, most married couples were like that. She looked at her husband with distaste, he talked at his wife like she was an employee.
