Brenda - I think the sequel to ''Cannery Row'' is ''Sweet Thursday'' - both great reads. Am a bit of a Steinbeck fan myself.
My last good read was ''Nobody True'' James Herbert.
And, of course, anything by Agatha Christie.

but i've not actually seen this in any wbts publication.

Hellrider - I believe you to be right - I just remembered what was told me. I think the reason it came up is because I asked an elder WHY JW don't insist on Kosher meat, as some of the methods of slaughtering would actually prevent proper bleeding.

and the blood becomes thicker and literally sticks in the animals weins. There`s no such thing as a blood-free piece of meat.
I was told (by JW elder), that when animals are slaughtered kosher, only the upper part of the beast is eaten as this is well bled - the rest of the carcass is discarded (which is why Kosher meat is expensive).

Lot, welcome. There is nothing I can say to help. I am of the ''be true to yourself'' line of thought. But YOU are right, once you're married, ''youself'' consists of TWO people. Your wife knows your feelings, and probably sees you going through a turbulent time. Her life too is now affected. There is no easy answer.
I will say, IF you continue the 'pretence' (as many have, and some still do on here) how will you feel in 6 months' time? I find it sad that the only people who BELIEVE they have a conscience and a right to be respected for their religion is the JW. There is no compromise.
