Harry Potter and the exasperated mum........help
by fifi40 inmy ex is a jw (as previously mentioned) and is against our son going to see the new movie, despite admitting that he has witness friends who will happily go and see it........oh and he also has witness friends that would dob their brother into the elders for going to see it.. i have just had a bit of a heated debate about it with him (our son is 14, nearly 15) and i just wondered if any of you have good sound reasoning for what is a 'matter of conscience' for these brainwashedd poo brains!!!!!.
help.........warlock can you just wave a magic wand or something............ a mother doing battle with the force...............a brain numbing, mind control force at that.
seriously folks though any gems you have would be greatly appreciated.

I think you did great with poo-brain (is that his real name?) - you answered his questions, no more - and he must have been thinking about stuff to ask your opinion. Perhaps you could mention that Alex would love to go to pictures, but would only enjoy it with his dad's approval.

Master Midwich (also 14) and myself went to see this last Saturday....if you think your lad will enjoy it, take him! Don't let a bunch of uneducated, pedantic, pervy control-freaks spoil Master fifi's fun. I can't see any reason why watching it has anything to do with the 'Elders/Glorious Ones'...it's PURE FANTASY - you know, just like the WT publications

It's bad enough the Society doesn't quote references ......
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inbut on page 43 of the 1991 "flock book", here's how the society encourages those who give public talks to "regularly work toward improving their teaching ability" .... 1. do thorough research in the society's publications to bring the material to life.
2. be sure your outline is kept current(sound advice).
periodically update your statistics, experiences, illustrations and so forth.. however, the book-holder noted the following in the margin:.

Watchtower deliberately lying?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower ini remember a topic a couple months ago, something about whether the gb actually believed in what they taught.
other topics have been similar lately, and today i noticed the topic about google 'proving' that the wts deliberately lies.
but is it deliberate?

They can't believe that Armageddon is imminent or why would they be storing up treasures on Earth? (something they accuse OTHER FALSE Religions of doing while pleading poverty themselves). If the WTBTS had the Faith it claims to have, its wealth would be distributed for the good of humankind.

Is the Watchtower Crumbling???
by R.F. ini'll start with my congregation....... there have been about 7 disfellowshippings in my congregation alone within the last year.
over half the congo is inactive and many more are irregular pubs.
young people in the congo are dropping like flies.

Just a thought - for those who HAVE to go out in FS, couldn't you insert/write/comment in the literature left with householders?

Quotes lawsuit
by John Doe indo you think the wtbts made a mistake in suing the quotes site owner?
i think doing such was a huge mistake on their part, and here's why:.
1) they were not able to bury the information.

I think it was a daft move on the WTBTS part, for the same reasons - those quotes are all over the Net if we need to find them, and there are mirror sites. It looks as though the WTBTS was making a point - almost a threat. It shows that the Org feels threatened by its own past.
If I was currently a Dub, I'd be wondering why the Org wanted to stifle the 'Word of God' which it has always distributed freely.
