Makes you want to spit!
by Gill ini aught not to laugh about this.....but it's one of those situations where you either laugh or cry!.
we found out that my husband's sister was df'd a few months ago.
we attempted to contact her but she will not speak to us and is still shunning us as apparantly we are 'spiritually weak' and she is attempting to be reinstated into the congregation.

Porter was banned from working with anyone under the age of 18 and put on the Sex Offenders Register.
What's that about? How's THAT going to work if he remains an Elder in the Congregation? Wouldn't he still be eligible to sit on JC's asking pervy questions to minors? Not to mention FS, and there are always kids in the Ministry School.

I've just read this in 'The Times'...
Parents trusted him to look after their children, and Porter regularly babysat for youngsters, took them away on holidays and invited them for sleepovers at his home.
"He was in a very high position. Children loved him and parents worshipped him," Ms Hughes said. "They thought he was God’s son on earth. He was the last man they would ever suspect of doing something so horrific.
"He abused dozens of children and even a baby. But he’s still free."
Mr Porter's current Jehovah's Witness Church has stood by him despite confessing to his crimes, according to his sister. He is thought to be an elder at the Mill Hill Kingdom Hall, in Barnet, north London.

My last communication with mom & sister
by HadEnuf intoday i decided to write my mom and sister, who are currently occupied with shunning me, a letter of good-bye.
seems to me that this should bring me somewhat of a closure to this whole jw business.
i probably won't send this out until next week.

HadEnuff - I've never understood how a mother can shun her child(ren). I can only imagine it's out of 'shame' and fear (not because she has stopped loving them). Your Mum must love you, but I understand your need for 'closure'. Your letter is very 'good', but, as other posters have mentioned, JWs are 'programmed' to see/interpret what the Society wants them to.
Obviously I don't lnow your Mum, but it's possible that she'll interpret your letter as YOU cutting her off, not loving her and declaring that JWs are worse than the Nazis. I think it's important to add (as another poster mentioned), that you look forward to her contacting you as you miss her and wish that you could all be a 'family'...or something like that...good luck, I imagine your heart will sink posting (mailing) it

hubby told jw mother i'm pregnant ....
by dobbie inso i'm 11wks pregnant (hooray!
) and hubby has been undecided whether to even bother telling his jw lot about it as they are shunning me (d'ad) and have hardly anything to do with him or kiddies.. anyway he was away yesterday and she rang him just to find out train times (only reason she ever rings cos she wants him to fiddle her cheap tickets), he said 'by the way youre gonna have another grandchild soon' what did she say was she pleased did she say congratulations?hell no!
"oh right" then silence, then "well i won't be allowed to see it anyway will i seen as d's d'ad herself".

Unnecessary Remodels
by choosing life ina kingdom hall by me is remodeling, a rather extensive one i am told.
they do need some painting, some corrections of poor workmanship by the quickbuild committee and a few other odds and ends.
then i was told they took out all the ceramic tile in the entrance and bathrooms.

I think it's morally wrong too...just replacing stuff because they have the spare cash...maybe they're spending it before mother hears about it/gets her hands on it?
