Intriguing Slant On Malawi Situation
by snowbird inhttp://conversations.blackvoices.com/faith-and-religion/001b4d43752e4d1ca06c8c63cb3ea85d/jehovahs-witnesses/6c6de568476845979bc23f99eaa9e750?sn=1.
in the late '60's early 70's there were individuals in malawi that were being persecuted(as we were taught) for serving jehovah.. all through this time we were constantly updated on how these individuals for their belief in jehovah were suffering greatly.for their witness and testimony was what they said.. but you know the real reason they were being persecuted?because the government wanted them to register for a card stating that their government was providing them food.. the governing body had told these poor souls that if they signed the card they would be saying that their trust was in man and not in jehovah, because jehovah is the only one who provides food.. here's the truth: malawi being a poor country(as other poor countries in africa)was recieving food from the world food bank.the requirement of the card was so the food bank could issue out the correct amount of food that the government would need to feed it's people.
that's what it was for,but these men sitting here in america taking nolthought of what was going on in the world threw these people to the lions.. how do you think the government would react when these people refused to sign?but these same people would be looking for the food the government provided.. .

It appears that the WTBTS had little understanding, along with no compassion, for its people in Malawi. And (in comparison to a 'similar' situation in Mexico), it 'appears' about investment (if that sounds harsh, I apologise). Didn't the Mexico situation benefit the WT in some way? Land? But (and here's the harsh bit) Malawi is poor - by making Martyrs of people who supply no income (for, in this case, the Society), they may recruit members from richer areas as a result..?

Lunatic Faith - speaking to a chap (a few months ago?) who'd just watched Paranormal Activity 2 at pictures, he was a nervous wreck, lol. Said it was scariest thing he'd ever seen. (I've not seen either PA films)

None...as a Faithful JW I know it's a sin to watch these films, and I would also be bringing demons into the house via the TV/DVD (the DVD player is the modern day Ouija board...you heard it here first) ...JUST KIDDING :) ....definitely 'JuOn' (The Grudge). I've heard Paranormal Activity is really good, but isn't it filmed 'camcorder' style? Like the Blair Witch Project? I watched that, didn't enjoy it, as I don't like this style of filming.

1984 WT cover -- Watchtower's Final Failed Prediction?
by FatFreek 2005 inthe infamous cover of that 1984 watchtower (27 years ago) was perhaps the last prediction / prophecy of the watchtower society.
will there be any more or have they finally learned their lesson?
some think they are like a race-track junkie and are addicted to predictions.

laverite - I don't think the number is revealed, just the make/model of phone (unless you have 'named' your phone which I believe is revealed in place of make/model). And let's face it, if you're a JW amongst (you believe) fellow JWs, chances are you'll accept a Bluetooth message.

...gave me the naughty thought of IF you happen to be at an Assembly/Meeting, it would be possible to Bluetooth it (amongst other things) to whoever had their mobile phone's Bluetooth on. Hey Presto, a new way of preaching to Dubs :)

Could use a little input on freedom of speech with JW relatives.
by nicolaou inhow do you deal with jw relatives who say; "can i just ask you one thing?".
seems obvious that you'd willingly answer their question right?
i mean, it's good that they're asking questions, maybe they're waking up and it might start them on their journey out of the wt.. but.. i've got one real hardcore jw sibling.

Bottom line is...you (we) have no freedom of speech (if I'm understanding you correctly - not free to have an opinion without 'suffering the consequences'). I'm guessing that if a JW family member asks, "Can I just ask you one thing"? he/she has already 'researched'/pre-empted your response... Personally, if I believed they just wanted to promote the WT or gather my response to report to Elders (as that how it appears from your post), I'd decline.
