I need to vent

i called my sister yesterday.

she is not a jw although she has studied off and on throughout the years and attends the meeting from time to time.

she knows i don't go to the kh anymore.

Don't worry Swiftbreeze. I find it's an unwritten rule that only JW are allowed beliefs. They are permitted to attack anyone else's lifestyle and beliefs, but we have to tread on eggshells so as not to offend THEIR beliefs.

You vent all you like!!!

Do not eat blood nor pork

so the bible says not to eat blood, so the witnesses refuse blood transfusions.

the bible also says not to eat pork.

so why do witnesses eat pork?

In Western Society, animals are slaughtered in different ways, and I always thought it was forbidden to eat anything that had been strangled - so to stay within God's Law, why don't JW only eat kosher/halal?

Does God speak directly to GB today?

it's been 15 years since i was df'd, but i seem to recall as a jw that the belief was that the only human after adam that jehovah spoke directly to was jesus.. my question has to do with what the org.

teaches regarding modern day communication with jehovah.

it was my understand when i was a jw, that the gb does not say that jehovah speaks directly to them.

Funkyderek - you reminded me of The Evolution Book ( I think??) - where we are made to believe (and didn't we just!) that Carbon-Dating is total nonsense!

Seedy3- I think you have something there. Ways of measuring many things have changed over time. Why are the lifespans of the old Biblical characters taken to be literal? Not all 'time' measurements in the Bible are.

Thanks for that Candidlynuts. That was the Scripture I was trying to find when reading a thread about 'charities' - the Society being a massive contributor to Worldwide charities, but no one ever hears of it as it's unscriptual.

I have heard it many times (from JW), and the Scripture quoted is always Matthew 6v3 :-

Absolutely agree - for God's Organisation, in these times of ''The End'', one would think that they would encourage any ''interested'' persons to approach them.

I've heard it said that that the official WT site doesn't do this as it wuld be swamped with apostate email etc, BUT, in MY opinion, even if there was ONE genuine enquiry amongst several thousand it would be worthwhile.

Perhaps, having to 'employ' one 'brother' to read/answer all enquiries/emails, he (the 'brother') would be exposed to too much information that the Society is trying to keep from HQ, and after being 'exposed', the 'Truth' virus would spread.............just a thought.

OLD SOUL :- JW Ben is correct. They do not claim spirit-inspiration. They do claim spirit-direction........ Spirit inspiration is much milder.

I should say so - if both Knorr and Franz, UNDER OATH, can claim God Himself is the author of the WT!! (One Helluva claim)

i don't know if the story about a preacher in nc kicking out members of his church for voting for kerry made it here to the site or not:.

they said something to the effect that the preacher was misguided and was trying to force his opinions on others.

Off on a tangent here - your post put me in mind of how (most) JW actually have no clue. They absorb and regurgitate. They have the carrot and the means to get it is anything that is told them. How many times on the Ministry are they stumped and have to apply an ''I'll get back to you''? (am waiting on one myself) - they may go to an 'Elder' for the answer - but THAT'S not knowledge, that's regurgitating without THINKING.
