As the Society is a registered charity, do they have to submit the hours in field service (as, unlike other religious charities, they don't appear to do anything else to help society) to keep their 'charitable' status?

WT inflating their numbers?
by Fatfreek inthere have been posts here that indicate the kh building work may be slowing in the u.s., and that there is consolidation of the congos going on.
if that is true why don't we see the society's published numbers on the decline?
my next question is, heaven forbid, you don't suppose they're inflating the membership numbers do you?

Star Wars Religion?
by skyman indid you know that many take the force as important as any religion.
"more than 70,000 people in australia say they follow the jedi faith.
almost 40% of the population say they believe in the force.

Lol - there is NO Jedi religion in Britain. Prior to the census, one(?) radio station was asking people to put it on their census forms ''just for a laugh'' - to see if they could get ''Jedi'' listed as a religion (I think the figure needed to be 40,000).

Lol - yep Skyman - this was done in UK (census before last I think) - and if ''X amount'' (don't recall figure) of people put ''JEDI'' on census as religion it HAS to be registered as a religion - I PERSONALLY know 2 people that did!

''YOU are my witnesses,'' Trump card (and comfort blanket)
by MidwichCuckoo inthis, i find, is always the bottom line.
'" "'you are my witnesses,'' is the utterance of jehovah, ''and i am god.
as his name is jehovah, the people must be jehovah's witnesses.

There's a few verses in the Bible (I saw earlier, but can't find them now) about Jehovah challenging ''witnesses'' to other ''gods''

On this board alone I have seen how many ''publishers'' exaggerated their hours - multiply it. I have NEVER seen anyone admit they do the opposite. IF the final (large % exaggerated) figures are submitted to HQ - maybe THEY TOO exaggerate them and round them up ?

(time being measured in differnet ways and so not reliable).
I can't believe I said ''differnet'' - I feel so ashamed.(Is it too late to go back and edit it? You think anyone noticed? lol)
My problem is arguing HISTORY against Faith/Bible - HISTORY only works when the EDUCATED of this World AGREE with JW (otherwise it's dismissed). Today I was told that JW AND Historians AGREE on 455BC(E) - a date that was new to me today.

Warned
of "Things Not Yet Beheld"6
In Noah?s day, Jehovah declared: "My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh. Accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years." (Genesis 6:3) The issuance of this divine decree in 2490 B.C.E. marked the beginning of the end for that ungodly world. Just think what that meant for those then living! Only 120 years more and Jehovah would bring "the deluge of waters upon the earth to bring to ruin all flesh in which the force of life is active from under the heavens."?Genesis 6:17.7
Noah received the warning of the upcoming catastrophe decades in advance, and he wisely used the time to prepare for survival. "After being given divine warning of things not yet beheld," says the apostle Paul, "[Noah] showed godly fear and constructed an ark for the saving of his household." (Hebrews 11:7) What about us? Some 90 years have passed since the last days of this system of things began in 1914. We are certainly in "the time of the end." (Daniel 12:4) How should we respond to warnings we have been given? "He that does the will of God remains forever," states the Bible. (1 John 2:17) Now is therefore the time to do Jehovah?s will with a keen sense of urgency.8
In modern times, sincere students of the Bible have learned from the inspired Scriptures that this system is doomed to destruction. Do we believe this? Notice what Jesus Christ clearly stated: "There will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world?s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again." (Matthew 24:21) Jesus also said that he would come as God?s appointed Judge and would separate people as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. Those found unworthy would "depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones into everlasting life."?Matthew 25:31-33, 46.9
Jehovah has kept these warnings in front of his people by means of timely reminders through the spiritual food provided by "the faithful and discreet slave." (Matthew 24:45-47) -

funkyderek - from my experience (today, re the 607 issue), FAITH is accepted as proof whereby history is rejected.
...however they are not the ONLY ones who are called by that name nor Yahweh...there are lots of little cults around doing this.
...and THIS is very interesting. And I believe you're right, C_Y_P - it's NO big deal for God, as there is only ONE True God. I've heard it said many times that using God's name is to distinguish him from other ''gods'' - but I actually don't KNOW any other (''real'') gods. ie, from GOD'S point there ARE no other gods...if you see what I mean
