Hello everybody
by iamfreenow ini am marion, a friend of fullofdoubtnow (linda), and i have just disassociated from jehovahs witnesses.
i was only announced a couple of days ago, after a lifetime of association.
linda has posted about me before, but it's wonderful to be able to post in my own right, and i am really looking forward to getting to know you all.. i am 59 years of age, 60 in november, and have been a jw all my life, baptised since 1961, and i thought i would always be a witness, but i now know absolutely that it isn't the truth.

Unethical quote from Nature, the magazine?
by Fatfreek ini just emailed the following to the editorial department of nature, the magazine.
a religious magazine, watchtower, 1998 6/15 p. 28, in their article true justice -- when and how?, quoted your journal nature in order to shore up their lack of support of the use of dna in courts of law.
moreover, the magazine nature notes that not all scientists agree on the interpretation of forensic evidence.

Good Job FatFreek - Dubs don't need to
dicouraged fromstudy 'Wordly' articles, as the Society (in Its wisdom) has done this for them.Lol - thing is, Dubs think they're soooooo educated because they can misquote one line from a publication that would go ''whoosh''.

It's ok - I wasn't complaining (I've seen that picture on another website), but I always think it's best to warn posters if a link contains 'sensitive' material.

Wasanelder - In the UK you need to pay for a licence (currently around £135 per year for a 'colour' licence) to receive TV. This fee goes to the BBC (unlike other channels, the BBC doesn't run adverts). One licence covers all TV sets in one household. Over 70 years old and registered blind persons have a discount.
I imagine, in this case, the 'detector van operator' had failed to record the evidence in some way as it's ok to OWN a TV without a licence but to use it would result in prosecution. Detector vans pick up what (unlicenced) households are watching and then prosecute. They are very accurate.

Oh - and when someone hasn't a licence, detector vans are used to see if the unlicenced property IS watching TV, and what channel. I understood this is the ONLY way people were prosecuted.

There was a similar case I recall a few years ago. A man was prosecuted for not having a TV licence but he maintained he only had a TV for watching videos. Apparantly (at the time) a TV had to be disabled from receiving a signal for this to be a valid defence.
Lol - she'd have been better off paying the fine and keeping quiet rather than confessing to having a telly just for her son's Playstation - now she'll have the local Elders round deciding on which games are suitable for the poor lad to keep.
