Yep - the vast majority certainly are, and they're too stupid to see it! There's no excuse for this sort of behaviour - she may be a tad scared of associating with you on internet (as any real JW would not actively associate with D'fed or weak ones, especialy via Satan's tool - the Net)...maybe she'll change her mind.

my jw friends and i are discussing the current topic revolving around the downplaying of the anointed remnant's existence and role as contributors to the spiritual growth of the other sheep.. i took very seriously the opportunities i had to aid the many "anointed" whom i knew personally.
those i associated with were not crazy, self-deluded individuals but very devout christians who helped to ground me spiritually.
I've only spoken to one ''annointed'' - about three years ago. He told me that they all have different gifts - prophesy, healing and interpretation. I asked what his gift was, he replied, 'interpretation' - and that he 'knew' things that the Society weren't yet aware of/teaching. I suggested that perhaps he ought share his 'knowledge' with the Society in that case, but he said that it would be 'running ahead' and not accepted yet.
For the record, I personally believe that anyone claiming to be 'annointed', ie, 'special' is delusional and should be mentally assessed.

Firstly, NO, you're not a hypocrite (the only hypocrite I've noticed on this site is Reniaa) - the way I see it is you're a prisoner of a Cult, and those 'born in' have little choice. You know you have a lot to lose by leaving, and that's how the WT operates, along with forbidding any freedom of thought and independent study. You're not alone in your situation, there are many here with very similar experiences. You'll find a lot of valuable information on this site. so the uk is divided into 4 separate countries - the big bit called england that has wales on the side and scotland at the top with northern ireland off on its own island.. each country has multiple cultural identities.
broadly speaking (and i generalize) the wealth of england (and the uk generally) is concentrated in london, the 'rust belt' is in the middle namely birmingham and manchester and the north of england tends to be poorer.. scotland - where i'm from - is culturally rich but economically poor.
there is a long-standing argument about how wealthy scotland could have been if it had been able to keep all the north sea oil revenue instead of sending it to london.
I'm from Worcestershire - within easy reach of the city of Birmingham (Broad Street being full of pubs and restaurants on the canals there). We have more canals than Venice which extend throughout The Black Country, which is also local to me. Black Country dialect is in a class of it's own, lol - the Old Testament (and Gospels) is available in Black Country (and a better translation of the Bible than the NWT, lol). Where I went to school there were no black pupils - the first one (and it was just the one lad) started the year I was leaving. Well said didgeridoo besty - how long have you been away from Scotland...and why..? lol

i totally disagree with the shunning practise and even as a jw i did not think it was a godly practise and refrained from it.. my jw gran has been admitted into frail care because her legs and feet are going numb.
i wanted to go visit her to offer help, be it financial, emotional, or even physical, but was told not to go as she still doesn't want anything to do with me.....your loss gran.. .
Morning Lou - I'm not sure what 'frail care' is - but assuming there are staff there. Could you receive updates from them, and maybe pass on your good wishes/love to your gran via the frail care staff?
The-Borg - yes, I too have witnessed lack of visits etc to elderly (dying) JWs. It's a joke - they talk about love and that they'd die for each other, but it's too much trouble to visit. But they all turn up at funeral - hypocrites.

Ouch - those are the sort of things that puzzled me - along with making the rest of creation suffer for the sins of Adam - I could never comprehend why we were all put on trial..? In our Society, the children of criminals are not punished for the crimes of their fathers.
We are 'made in God's image' - yet as a mere imperfect mortal, I would put an end to suffering in a heartbeat if I could, so how can God just stand by and withold His ability to intervene? (do you think the same..?)
I imagine your father had no answer for you and took the easy route of 'labelling' you in order to end the discussion.
