by littlerockguy inthe first congregation i went to basically was warm and friendly even though i didn't develop very many close friends there but some of the others i went to were rather scandulous in more ways than one.
one that i went to im surprised anybody is still there that has a conscious with all that went on.
was yours like that?

The Days of the elders................
Our elders were kinda like Stephano Demira (days of our lives)--they manipulated, conned,coerced, threatened, etc......everyone that didn't have the exact same viewpoints. There were about 10 of us within a few years of age. They dictated to us--our parents how we could dress, who we could talk to or not, classes to take at school, activities we could or not participate in. I got a "puzzle coupon" valentine in jr. high school. OH MY GOD--elder's meetings.......
One of the older elder's wife was "grooming" one of my friends to take her place if she should ever die. How to fix his drinks, food, etc. Yes, even in bed. He was finally removed from his position, 6 years after this started. My stepdad was a MS, and molesting me till I ran away from home--and my mom knew.

You hit the nail on the head when you said to remember the "elders make their own rules"!!!!!!!! And don't forget, they do it as they go...! I went to a KH that they raised us kids, inflicting the parents, and us, with their OPINION, oops, I mean Jehovah's way for true christains to behave, etc. Their way was the only biblical way. If not, it was an elder's meeting (or 2). I was the one that made them EARN their titles!

A disturbing phone call

i am his godfather and watched him grow but i am his dads friend (calls me uncle) and thats the first time he ever phoned me.
he has just been offered a job where i work.

After I ran away from home and the JWs, I went to my dad's and stepmom's. My stepmom "studied" with them for a month to understand why I was so screwed up. That's all it took her. I hope you can make a difference.

Thanks for the welcome. Hell, I tried to copy an email I received from my stepdad after 10 years of silence---and promptly screwed that up!! (when I tried to start a new topic) I guess I have to plead blonde----it always works!!! I'll figure this posting out sooner, probably later!!!!
My stepdad was a MS, molested me for years. My mom knew about it and did nothing. I've been full of bitterness and hatred. Time to let it go--but not forget!!!!! I almost--ALMOST feel sorry for him. All five of us kids finally are all out. He's missing out on grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. His loss!!!
The email he sent was short, but for a hardcore JW-- it was as close to a confession as I"ll ever get. Besides, I forgave him for ME--not him!!
I attempted to post it on the personal experiences thread.
